Med shortage thread
Given the current climate I thought we should start a thread so people can post if they are having difficulty getting any BC specific meds and their location to help others trying to track them down. Had a 6 month appt with my onc on tues and neither onc nor CNC said Zoladex or Femara were currently an issue and they feel…

Covid-19 and Chemotherapy
Hi, I was wondering how members are dealing with the news of Covid-19 while immunosuppressed on chemotherapy? Im trying to self isolate as much as possible but it’s hard with husband working (medical) and kids. Thinking of pulling the kids from school and all extra curricular activities but that will have a big impact on…

Good report for Year 2 review
I saw my surgeon yesterday and he is very happy with how I am going ... so much so that next year will be my last appointment with him unless I get concerned about anything! I am Very happy with that! He was particularly happy with the feel of my breast tissue following the 4 weeks of radiation .... saying it was almost…

Choosing your words
My Cancer Is Not A 'Journey'. Here Are Some Other Words I'm Happy To Use “Cancer is an unexpected lodger who turns up, messes things up and causes chaos. You finally get rid of them, then realise they’ve kept the key.” From an article in the Huffington Post, title above. Nice read for those not mad on ‘journey’, ‘battle’…

Sharing is caring. Thanks ladies
Hi ladies. Thank you for sharing your experiences, ups and downs. I get online and just read a few posts every now and then and it really is encouraging and gives me a good laugh at times. My surgery is in 11 days now...thank goodness, the waiting is the hardest. I'm having a bilateral mastectomy and I'm actually fine with…

Driving
It is almost four weeks since my mastectomy. I want to have a go at driving my car but not sure of the timeframe. My surgeon said not to jump into the car straight away because if I had an accident so close to the operation my insurance would not cover me. On the same note, I have had my right breast removed (I still…

Sun protection
Since treatment my skin has become extremely sun sensitive. I cannot stand out in the direct sun for 5 whole minutes or I start to burn and my hair and skin become very hot. I now carry sunscreen in my bag if I go out shopping. I also have a cap in my bag if needed. I love fishing and kayaking and there is no way I am…

Happy Birthday
I only know one lady on this site. I see all the birthday greetings as they come up but feel individual comments are not really appropriate. It is not that I don't care. We are all in different places in our lives and at different stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery/survival. We all have different thoughts and…

nose bleeds
Have finished most of my treatment for breast cancer except for 3 weekly herceptin and daily arimadex. So far no serious side effects. My nails are terrible but I can live with that. However nose bleeding has restarted. Feels like I have a blocked nose most of the time. At night I wake up with a dry mouth because I can't…
