Interesting phone call
I received five missed calls from the same number this am. As I didn’t recognise the number I ignored it. This afternoon I received another call from the same number. A lady asked my name then said she had the wrong number. Five minutes later she rang back and demanded to know why I rang her husband. “What is his name?”…

Hi there - for the last two years during and after menopause I have had the worst hot flushes at night. Cover on cover off all night, even to having a towel with me. Private hospital
I get my Herceptin at a private hospital under a govt funded scheme. Today they decided my temp was too high, My BP was too high and my heart was racing too much to have treatment. They sent me to their ED on the understanding I wouldn’t need to pay. I got there and the triage nurse told me I had to fork out $420. I told…

Art Through BC Glasses
I went to the MoMa exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria yesterday. It was excellent, and really enjoyable. I realised as I was going round it how this BC life experience had added a new interpretive filter to my art viewing experience. For example in the foyer was a big fan, whirring and swinging in the air…

The Chilly Towel - wrap it around your pillow
I have for many years used a body pillow (very long pillow 148cm x 50cm) to help with back issues when I lie on my side. Since bc and rads, I find that my chest gets so hot with the pillow pressing up against that area. Before I started rads, I found this product called the Chilly Towel. https://chillytowel.com.au/…

Music to soothe your soul...or pump you up....or let out the rage...
Following on from the excellent discussion about what movies to watch when you're housebound and recovering, I thought I'd ask about music. What kind of music has helped you? Do you have a "go to" song if you're feeling stressed, sad, angry, happy? A lot of people seem to resonate with "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten. How…

Black Saturday Doco
Did anybody see the Black Saturday doco on ABC last night? I only caught the end of it but it did strike me that a lot of what they were saying about trauma and recovery is the same as what we go through. (Not taking anything away from the bushfire victims, of course.) And on that note, my thoughts are with any of you…
