Recent diagnosis
Hi. I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer last week. The staff at Breastscreen were so lovely and gave me a folder with heaps of information. I didn’t even open it up until yesterday. I just couldn’t bring myself to do so. I have two small grade 1 cancers that were picked up in my routine mammogram. No…

Newly Diagnosed Locally Advanced Breast Cancer
Hello Everyone I recently got diagnosed with what they thought was DCIS but after all the ultrasounds, MRI, CT, PET scan, and biopsies, the diagnosed me with stage 3, Locally Advanced Breast Cancer. I am 37 years old (hopefully reach level 38 in January), and in June 2023, I found a lump in my left armpit. Not very big.…

Food question
I'm a bit confused about food and what I can and can't eat. I know I need to avoid raw/undercooked meat and fish, deli meat and soft cheese, wash fruit and salad. But does cottage cheese and spreadable cheese fall into that category? Is couscous ok if I make it myself? I miss meredith goats cheese 😔 My taste buds are…

Going to chemo in a wig
Yesterday, I started my first chemo session. Three nurses tried to find my veins for a cannula. Finally, they called a vascular nurse to locate the vein under ultrasound and will have inserted a PICC for the further sessions. Nothing to do with their competence but with my very bad veins. Anyway, I decided to ignore all…

Nervous
Newly diagnosed with invasive breast cancer mid December. Surgery delayed once already but now is tomorrow with a lymphoscintography shortly. Feeling very nervous and quite emotional today - haven’t really cried since diagnosed but today I can’t seem to stop. Is this how others have felt?

Radiation side effects
I'm almost at the end of my RADS and consequently I have a sensitive, hot, rash covered, pink breast. One of the lovely people at RNSH Radiation told me of this great idea that he heard from another of his patients. Put your sorbolene cream in the fridge to keep it cold so when you apply the cream, it is cooling and…

TNBC at 72 years old!
Hi I was recently diagnosed with TNBC Grade 3. Tumour is small at 11 mm. I’m at the stage of the Medical team discussing options for surgery first. I am hoping this is the case as surgeon has indicated that he believes that removal will be successful. At this time the lymph nodes appear to be clear. I have to wait another…

New to MBC. How to stay positive when every Onc meeting seems to bring less certainty?
Hi, I'm new to online forums, so here goes. I was diagnosed stage 2 grade 2 BC in 2014 aged 36. Find out 27/12/23 metastasised to my bones at age 46. Married, 3 kids (9,11,12). It's not hormone receptive anymore, so treatment is looking like chemo, after hip replacement and radiation. I enjoy a laugh and some practical…

chemo or no with micro metastasis
Recent mastectomy with aesthetic closure, one mini slash micro metastasis in one lymph node, hormone positive at 90% and no chemo? Only a 2% chance of it adding anything to my 10 year rates? I keep reading everyone has chemo with lymph node involvement… just a wee bit concerned I’ve made the right choice? Thankyou.

Uncertainty
Hi All I've had surgery and got my pathology results today for invasive ductal tumour on right breast with lymph node removal. My PET scan is clear, margins for tumour clear and no lymphovascular or perineural invasion (probably not the right word), Ki67 less than 6%, Grade 2 not sure of stage. Despite these results my…

SUFFERING STOPPING HORMONE TREATMENT FOR MENOPAUSE
Hi. Diagnosed two weeks ago yesterday, can’t believe it’s only been two weeks seems so much longer. Daughter is currently in the middle of HSC, so I haven’t told family yet, which sort of makes it seem like it’s not real. I’ve been reading a lot of posts and like a lot of women, I was blind sided getting a call back from…
