New to the club I didn't want to join!
Hi everyone. As the title says, I'm new here! Id rather not be, but am thankful for safe spaces like this. I was recalled after some abnormal results on my first mammogram & after a morning of more scans was told it was likely cancer so biopsies and ultrasound were done, then 2 days later it was confirmed to be Invasive…

Pre mastectomy tips please
I’m a couple of weeks away from having a mastectomy on my left breast. Does anyone have any tips to prepare me that they wish someone had told them before surgery? E.g things to have ready at home for recovery, any necessary items I may need to make recovery a bit easier? Any tips are welcome, thank you

Walking challenge
Walking (or jogging, running or hopping) is good for your body and brain. Thinking time, listening to music time, talking to a friend time. September may be a good time to start, if you need an incentive: From Medworld: https://medrecruit.medworld.com/articles/emergency-doctor-champions-fight-against-cancer-with-pedometers…

Congrats BCNA on a beautiful Field today.
I got emotional watching the news coverage of todays Field at the MCG. I couldn’t attend because I had my daughters Grand Final. I was only diagnosed on 1August 2023 and would like to share that after my diagnosis my daughter and her team ran out onto the field wearing pink armbands. I have never been more proud of our…

Most of all I feel guilty that I can't look after my family and do my job. I know I need help but I just don't have ability to ask for it. I don't know whether what I'm doing is right.…

Joining the shitty titty club...
So yep, newly diagnosed...46 years old, no kids and I took the pill for 10+ years...no doubt all contributing factors. Ended up with grade 2 DCIS with small invasive component, detected on routine screening thanks to a strong family history (mum and both grandmothers, plus a few other relatives) and several previous benign…

Information on reconstruction after Mastectomy please
Hello and thanks to all on this forum. I was informed on Wednesday that instead of having 2 lumpectomies on 10/2 on my Lobular cancer they will have to perform a Mastectomy as MRI showed more cancer than Ultrasound. I need to decide by Tuesday 31/1 about a reconstruction (if that’s even possible) can anyone help with their…
