Just diagnosed this week
Hi Everyone I am so relieved to have a place to go for support that is real as my world is turned upside down. It has been a whirlwind. I was diagnosed on Wednesday 28th of June. Since seeing my GP ten days ago, life has been turned upside down, shaken, spun and swirled. I am 62 years old and after my best friend was…

All the tests to update new diagnosis
What a couple of weeks I have had. After being called back to Breastscreen NSW (amazing service and staff), I had the battery of tests at the post mammogram assessment including 3 biopsies. Originally a lump and calcifications (left) and Stage 2 DCIS and calcifications (right) in between Stage 1-2 DCIS. To the surgeon…

Whirlwind of everything
I noticed a lump in my right breast around the 27/4/23. I wasn’t sure and therefore not overly worried. I went to my GP on the 13/5 and had a mammogram and ultrasound done on the 17/5. A few hours after being home my GP rang and said the radiologist had contacted her, it’s cancer! My world started spinning out of control…

Any info on lobular cancer in situ (LCIS) found in margins after lumpectomy
Hi, I had a lumpectomy, radiation and now on anastrozol for early grade 1 stage 2 mixed lobular and ductal breast cancer. In the margins, there were small foci of lobular cancer in situ (LCIS) - this increases your risk of breast cancer and I’m wondering whether to have a mastectomy to avoid recurrence. Has anyone had…

Feeling alone and scared
I’m 36 with two young kids, newly diagnosed with lobular carcinoma. Have had a single mastectomy with axillary clearance. Pathology report shows 120mm (12cm) tumour (clear margins) and 23 lymph nodes removed, 10 with cancer. Starting 20 weeks of chemo in a couple of weeks, then radio, then hormone therapy (10…

Genomic Testing
Hi, I was diagnosed 1 month ago, and had a bilateral mastectomy last week. My tests came back yesterday and although one Lymph node was clear, another had minimal cancel cells present from my left armpit. Apparently i am a N0 category. Although my surgeon is going to get other doctors opinions etc if i should go ahead and…

ILC & IDC found in left breast
Hi, Yesterday, I had my first specialist appointment to receive the results of my biopsy. The result showed that I had both ILC and IDC in the left breast. The iDC is 2.6 but the ILC was running in lines in the dense tissue. This measures about 6cm. I have been requested to get a breast MRI and a PET scan ASAP. I was…

Recent diagnosis PhD student
Hi everyone. I had a recent diagnosis these past two weeks with a breast surgeon in Sydney. I had fibroadenoma in my left breast for 20 years and was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma with lymphatic invasion. My results say that I am in stage 2 and grade 2. I am having an MRI today and expect to be…

After lumpectomy
Hi. I am newly diagnosed and had a lumpectomy and nodes removed 12 days ago. I am wondering how long it takes for the breast swelling and underarm pain to subside. I realise everyone is different just looking for a rough idea. I guess the whole diagnosis is still sinking in. Have a wonderful weekend. Oh and is there a skin…

Hi all, well it's been a head-spinnng few weeks. Diagnosed on 24/4 with BC - grade 2 - in my right breast and right lymph nodes. Started with a GP appointment for a lump I had been ignoring for several months, then mammogram and ultrasound, followed by core biopsy, MRI, CT scan, PET scan, another biopsy and several hundred…

Cancer %
I'd love to know if there is a big increase in breast cancer and other cancers since 2019. I'm hearing of so many and from strangers on the phone in my job and personally from all different age groups.

Diagnosed today
Hi all, I was diagnosed with Invasive breast cancer by my GP this morning. I don't have anymore information shared with me apart from the mass is 2.7cm in my left breast - as detected in a mammogram and ultrasound. The GP said that the specialist will speak with me about my core biopsy result she didn't want to discuss it.…

Combined private and public
Diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with grade 2 breast cancer and have met with surgeon privately and getting an MRI done this week. Have not discussed out of pocket costs but wanted to know if anyone has combined private with public care and how I organise this?
