The new cluster is a salutary reminder that it’s not all over. I live near Highpoint and will be skipping my gym class today. Happily, this coincides with a blitz on mask wearing in public transport, which has slipped badly in Melbourne.

I had my flu jab yesterday as we need it to enter Nursing Homes as a volunteer .... and have booked my Covid jab for 4 weeks (nurse suggested longer than the recommended 2 weeks.). Then I am going to have the pneumonia jab too!

@Keeping_positive1 thank you for your understanding and support 💜. Even though you want to take the jab yourself, you respect my decision not to, and do not direct blame at people like myself for the current and future covid situation.
Anybody wanting to take it, and wanting to discuss its possible effects and interaction with breast cancer medication also being taken, is perfectly fine and understandable. People talking about the political side of it, and how there are so many people opposing the vaccine, and how this is the reason it will never go away, is not ok. We could be here all week giving each valid points as to why the other side is wrong. Except that this is a breast cancer forum. Anything that doesn’t involve bc and its spread, treatment, prevention, psychological and emotional impact on people etc doesn’t really have a place here.  This has been my point all along.
May you all have good health 💟

Four Corners on ABC last night had a program on vaccination  and can be caught up with on abc iview. The words at the end by specialists working in a covid ward in Melbourne in particular are worth a listen.I had mixed feelings about having my first AZ jab 2 weeks ago - I now believe it was the right decision.Covid is coming - it’s not if but when.

The likely ones that are passing the covid virus on are the ones that are under 50, but yet they are not yet offered the vaccine! I am about 5 kilometres from one hotspot in Melbourne.  I didn't go to a physio appointment today, I think it was a wise decision I made.

@FlClover thank you, and you are welcome, you do what is best for you.  Take care.

Media conference message is encouraging people to make appointments for vaccination.
    It's a concern!

Such a distressing day for us Victorians.  Whilst I have only had my first jab I am hopeful that if I come into contact with the virus I may be at least partly protected against very serious illness.  I am grateful that I have enough food in the freezer and pantry to get me through for a while.  I am glad I did some bigger pots when cooking so I could freeze some.  Now I stay home alone and hope for the best.  All the best to all.

"Covid Victoria lockdown restrictions: new Melbourne and regional Vic coronavirus rules explained | Victoria | The Guardian" https://amp.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/may/27/covid-restrictions-victoria-new-greater-melbourne-and-vic-coronavirus-rules-explained

We've been through this prior, this is No.4, heart goes out to those living alone.
@BlackWidow you sound organised which certainly is a good place to be

I headed into the street today to primarily go to the Optometrist and collect our mail.   Place has gone mad, struggling to get a carpark.  Observing lots of toilet roll purchases and Bakers Delight close to sold out at 1.30pm

Not quite as bad as last year when we were invaded by bus loads of strangers buying up everything.  We couldn't buy milk, meat, bread, loo paper......locals left with very little

I profoundly hope this outbreak will be contained soon but 40,000 tests in the last 24 hours shows what fear can do. Now that vaccines are available to those over 40, let’s hope we see some big figures there too and few side effects.

Evening all, I still haven’t had my jab yet, spoke to me oncologist last week and they are sorting the Pfizer one out for me so waiting till I hear from them before I go any further. Yes we are going back into lockdown from midnight tonight, stay safe everyone in Melbourne. 😃

"Stay safe" to everyone in Victoria.
I feel for those who live alone and cannot even go out and meet someone for coffee.  My phone will be busy calling to check on lone friends.
The cold weather does not help as we cannot even spend time in the garden.
    Look after each other.

@Glynnis that is great you will be getting the Pfizer one.  Can I ask what is the precursor to being eligible to getting the pfizer vaccine.  I have to speak to my specialists as I have pre-existing medical conditions and hoping I can get a letter to get the pfizer vaccine that is mainly set outside for the younger ones.

A relative of mine lined up for one and half hours late yesterday as was in a spot that had identified a positive case.  She was told 5 minutes before 8.00pm (closing time) that sorry she wouldn't be getting tested and come back tomorrow.  Thankfully she is like me and dug her heals in and was tested.  She stood in line in the freezing cold in Collingwood in Melbourne just waiting to get tested.  I definitely would not be able to stand for that long, let alone in the freezing cold.
