Night Howls

Forgot to take my Losec for the last two days. Couldn’t figure out why I was in so much pain when I was trying to sleep. Frustrating. My hernia was under control before chemo. 😤0

@Harvey1903 and @Sister I am really struggling with chemo brain. You are so right Sister . For me it is not the organisation or planning skills or even the forgetting of passwords or numbers it seems only the simple words in the middle of a sentence. Arrgghh. You start the sentence and get to a word you want to say and the mouth is open but that word just ain't coming out so then onto the short silence while the brain is trying to kick into turbo boost and then its " yep you know the thingy " what makes it worse is the person you are talking too jumping in to preempt what you want to say when they see you struggle. Hopefully will get better as time goes on.0

@Harvey1903 @Sister @kitkatb My hubby just looks at me and waits when this happens as he knows if he jumps in it will be the wrong word. When I end up without the word and thingy pops out, he just smiles. We laugh at it now because it happens too often to allow it to bother me. I reckon I have enough on my plate without worrying about word loss. Fortunately for me, when I have to go to work, people are understanding of my ditzy.0

I'm a bit the same @Blossom1961 I sort of figure well the Suns up at the right time this morning, the Planets are still aligned so all good. Am slowly coming to the conclusion "it is what it is" and good to have a sense of humour about it. xo1

It's a real bugger eh @Harvey1903. I find it embarrassing and quite distressing. However it has improved for me, and I hope it improves more. My oncologist said reading helps, surround yourself with words.
Be kind to yourself. Hugs, K xox0 -
I find it terrifying, I admit. Words have been my life. So often now, even before I start speaking in a group of people, I am anxious because I know the black spot will come at some time. I'm forgetting words in both English and French, my second language. I continually immerse myself in reading and watching TV in both languages. Worst of all I'm still afraid to start writing again. This week I tidied up my office ready to go back to working on a Paris memoir that I'd nearly finished just before diagnosis, but I'm putting it off. Ah well, hopefully next week.

I can relate to that, @Sister - there are a few things that I KNOW I should 'know & remember' - but I have to keep going back to look at it to remind me of it!
And the main one (that really pisses me off) is that I cannot (for the life of me) remember the 'alternative names' of the major Hormone/AI Tabs! I find it embarrassing that i can't remember their 'other' names. I've only just finally 'remembered' that Aromasin is the same as Exemestane (only because I know that Exemestane is an Aromatase inhibitor .....) and will probably go off it & onto Tamoxifen! LOL
I keep having to refer to this sheet (I added all the bits at the top, to help me remember the different 'workings' of the different tabs.)

@Blossom1961
My new GP (my previous one is on maternity leave, sigh, now I have to "train" a new one) has suggested that I have Webster Packs when I admitted to her that I forget when to take my medications. At 67! No way.
I came home, found a big black texta and wrote 'M' for Morning and 'N' for Night ( and on some M & N) on each medicine pack. That will solve the problem for a while.

@Annie C We really MUST be twins - I've been doing exactly that for some months now ....... it is the only way I know for sure that I've forgotten one! LOL
I do it for Keith's Meds too - but he still just takes them 'randomly', not in 'day order' so it is a real mess!
I am just doing 1 row at a time now ... in case I forget a day so don't have to re-do the whole lot! LOL

I just do my own weekly pill box. Between actual medication, recommended supplements and a couple of things I have taken for years, I need the clutter of packs and bottles on a daily basis like a hole in the head. Do them once a week. Easy to tip the required stuff into a pill
box if I am heading out for the night.3 -
Great idea ladies1
