Nail polish
Hi Girls I have recently heard of girls using dark (black?) nail polish for chemo. Could someone tell me what that does or prevent? Also, if anyone has experience with the cooling cap, can you please tell me how long does one wear it before the actual chemo starts? I would like to know because I am hoping to get my timing…

First hair colour!
Yesterday I had a follow up with the oncologist, & she gave me the go-ahead to colour my hair...I was so excited, as I used to colour my hair all the time before chemo. I now feel a little bit more like myself - I'd still rather be bald, but if I can't stay bald, it's not going to be mousy brown! I love it! :-)

Photos and work
Hi everyone, just checking in. I had a lovely surprise today - I finally received back the photos from the first photoshoot I did bald. (I didn't think I was ever going to get them!) I've put a couple of my faves here. Looking back through all of them makes me seriously miss being bald! I had such fun with it. I also had a…

Warbling Magpies & Laughing Kookaburras
This is not a piece about self-pity although some may think it is. I will admit it has been a hard week and it’s even a real effort to put my thoughts in print. It’s been a week where I haven’t had the energy to venture too far from home but our house backs onto a main road where every day ambulances speed backwards and…

Our wonderful time together
Hi all, I have been enjoying my downloaded music album "Wicked" thinking of our time together and the special free night when 4 of us attended the stage show in Melbourne. Having never really seen The Wizard of Oz I have just sat through it at home and it was really enjoyable BUT I prefer Wicked, girls! The weeks have…

Overseas Travel Insurance
Hi, My husband and I are travelling to Turkey at the end of the year. I am looking to get travel insurance and wonder if others have been there before me and have information about insurance companies and coverage for those that have had BC? I was diagnosed in 2011, with BC also in my nodes but not passed them. So I don't…

I am 46 years old and have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. I have had conserving surgery last month and starting chemo on Tuesday. Womens Weekly story back in May
Today I picked up an old copy of Womens Weekly, May copy I think. Anyway it had an article "I wanted to feel whole". Very interesting read, but the thing that absolutely flawed me was the comment by a BCNA Chair Board Member "If you want a reconstruction and it’s within your means – go for it. " So basically a…

Did you know that Comminsure plays dirty tricks on cancer pat
Did you know that Comminsure plays dirty tricks on cancer patients disabled by chemotherapy?. Comminsure is the insurance wing of the Commonwealth Bank. They paid out my trauma cover section of my insurance because I had invasive breast cancer, which was lovely. But they then set up a clever little scam aimed at preventing…

Three years on
Well this time three years ago I was probably under the knife. I had a very long day, having to be at the hospital for injections for nodes at 8am, & ended up being the last surgery for the day so didn't go in till nearly 4pm. I don't even remember recovery, only waking up at about midnight & then again a few hours later &…
