Disappointed in The Beacon's name change

I have been reading the posts over the whole of the
discussion and agree with suggestions and thoughts regarding the Beacon name
change. I have greatly admired the clarity
of thought and considered responses to this topic. Calling the magazine Pink Lady is non
inclusive and does resonate of other things.
I am wondering about the title “aBreast”. The magazine provides a lot of information and
resources for all who face breast cancer and those who support. It keeps us “aBreast” of research, current
treatments, stories and a whole lot more. BCNA is also encompassed in this through
the topical and relevant information it provides to us and in keeping the community “aBreast” by raising
awareness and keeping breast cancer and all that goes with it to the forefront
of community space. I know this word isn’t commonly used. In the Webster Dictionary
one of the meanings isup to a particular standard or
level especially of knowledge of recent developments- tries to keep abreast of [=to stay informed about] the news

@soldiercrab thank you, lovely of you to say, though I was talking not just about myself but all of us collectively...in terms of opinions it doesn't matter, not really. I'm under no illusion that my contributions are valued but they are also volunteered, and that I am not an employee of BCNA, even if it is US that are here running the Forum 24/7...

@steplightly - great suggestion for the name change. Simple and straight to the point. Hoping BCNA sits up and takes notice.
Perhaps the next magazine could have a sheet of voting paper in it and if anyone is interested in having their voice heard they can return it with their own stamp (i.e. saving BCNA postage costs).
Prior to that they need to look at the ideas put forward via this website and then ask us all to vote on that.

Very good suggestion, Steplightly. I think that would be a very acceptable title.
I know I sound like a broken record but the problem, at the moment, is the imminent change of the magazines name.
All the other suggestions are great and show true enthusiasm for the organisation however I fear that if we get distracted by them, at the moment, this argument will be lost.
Requesting that no change is made to the name of the magazine until further consultation is reasonable. It is doable, will cost nothing and can be done immediately without any fuss.
Changing logos, or even adopting a new name are not so easy. I know there have been some sensible suggestions but, please, be realistic about time frames.
If we make this too difficult, costly or complicated we are making it very easy for BCNA to say no. And I'll bet that is exactly what they will do.
One battle at a time, please. Win this one then regroup and start a proper campaign for what ever change we want to see next.

The idea of aBreast is for the magazine name only. Leaving it as Beacon is fine. A massive consensus for a no to Pink Lady.

that is a wonderful Idea can you please do that on behalf of all of those who don't want the Beacon name changed until further consultation with the members.
Maybe start a post asking who wants to have their name on the letter also ?0 -
I think that is a great idea @afraser. I also think that adding @BCNA to all comments relating to the change of name and our request that is suspended will mean that there can be no suggestion that information was not received.
If the message is consistent --No Pink Lady Magazine-- there can be no confusion.
