Hi all
As you will see from earlier posts Traveltext and I have been involved in this discussion from
the get-go and you will see the final of two letters we sent to Christine voicing our opposition to the proposed name change. To her credit she did respond to the first letter and mentioned it was part of the corporate theming.
I like others thought the Beacon was a symbol of light and hope and I certainly don’t feel the publication “Pink Lady” is something I will be pursuing in future.
This approach by BCNA is so
disheartening after all the work they did in supporting the inaugural Male Breast Cancer Awareness.
I am left totally perplexed6 -
Why are the BCNA taking so long to respond to this issue?im actually really surprised to be honest. And I still can’t see any response as to why they have to change it?? And why at the very least hasn’t Christine Nixon responded to the letter sent to her by @traveltext ? That’s a bit of a shame. Why can’t we start a post on suggestions for a name and logo change then? That seems fair doesn’t it ? Margie. Xx3

@Giovanna_BCNA did reply early on and promised to alert the powers that be that there was discontent in the ranks.
I'm quite sure this thread will be causing some consternation. Change resistance is a 'thing' but it is rare to have this level of consensus when no one has any personal gain to consider.6 -
It seems a shame the change.when the online network was changed bcna really listened to us and made changes to accomadate and realy kept us informed.this seems different l hope the woman and men who make up the bcna are not being forgotten. Even the friday update seems not the same. I hope bcna is not loosing its roots.1

I've been having a think.
This could be a marketing opportunity for BCNA that would have national appeal.
I'll take a blind guess that they have already spent a shit load of money prepping for a launch of the new Pink Lady rebranding but there is nothing like a graceful reversal of policy in response to community feedback if you want publicity.
I'll bet that the interest in changing the name of a magazine would be of, meh, interest to the media. Not changing it because the female online contributors got their hackles up in support of their male counterparts would get them interviews with all the national media. It would be a feel good story that could generate tremendous support.
Ive been involved with BCNA for a long, long time. They are genuinely trying to give us a voice and without them this forum would not exist. I'm incredibly grateful for what they do.
The pink lady is a terrific initiative, imagine if 'she' was wearing blue shorts and rainbow socks.

Great ideas @Zoffiel. I’d like to see the pink lady dressed up like that.
Has BCNA become so big that they are unable to respond to the needs of the very people they advocate for and provide an online platform for? I have cancelled my Pink Lady/ the Beacon newsletter in protest.0 -
Oh that's a shame!
It's presently skeleton staff in a lot of organisations so perhaps that’s the case for BCNA.
Giovanna has passed our concerns on.
I have sent an email on the feedback email for the Beacon. Hopefully others have also!
Maybe this strategy hiccup needs to go to the Board and goodness knows when they meet.....
As @Zoffiel commented earlier this should be causing consternation.2
