    @LucyDee

    Hard to say why, I am not a medical
    specialist. But certainly worth asking for a proper examination if your current problem hasn’t resolved by the time you see your oncologist, rather than just upping the pain control. Best wishes for a speedy resolution.

    At least the radiation helped. That was the other thing, apparently the shoulder blade pain was ‘cos of the t11 tumour. She explained that when I saw her in December. When I said in June...’it’s probably Arthritis’, all she said was ‘I’ll make those decisions’. Why not say ‘or it could be the t11 tumour’, instead she just handed me a ‘script for Endone. I like to know what’s going on.

    I find endone pretty good,  makes me a bit nauseas though sometimes.  Codeine rules for me  as well @Sister :) all be it harder to get than crack these days, jeez and to think you used to be able to by it over the counter.

    @kezmusc I was a big fan of Mersyndol which I took for Insomnia. So annoying when it disappeared off the shelves.

    @LucyDee Me too. My Onco prescribed six packets of the night strength Mersyndol for me.

    @Blossom1961, really? When Mersyndol became prescription only years ago - before I was diagnosed with Cancer in 2018 - a friend recommended Natures Own Complete Sleep Advanced, which has been great. My Oncologist is aware I’m an insomniac.

    @LucyDee I took mersyndol as a teenager for severe headaches and only stopped in my thirties when it stopped working as well. Then when I started getting migraines in my forties (once a year) I started taking them again for the three day recovery process. I also found they were the only thing that helped with period cramps. They are not currently in my house as I do not want my body to stop responding to them if I need them again. However, when I had BC, I made an exception.

    Reactions to things are so varied. I have been a poor sleeper for decades (nothing to do with cancer, no problem dropping off, wake and can’t get back to sleep). Nature’s Own gives me nightmares, I’d be delighted if it worked!

    @Afraser, oh my goodness. I’ve tried everything under the proverbial kitchen sink for my Insomnia. If Natures Own didn’t work, I don’t know what I would do.

    It’s my own version of drug surfing!! Valerian works as well as anything, and sometimes I sleep pretty well with nothing but cold milk! When I get too many bad nights, I use Temaze but my last prescription (25 tablets) lasted 16 months so I am being careful! Luckily I don’t mind being awake in the wee small hours, sudoku has surprisingly narcotic qualities!

    I know exactly how you feel. I also have warm chocolate before bed and I don’t even like milk. I’ve even resorted to sleeping tablets but getting a script from my GP is like pulling teeth. You’d think I was asking for Cocaine the way she carried on. That’s why I was surprised when my Oncologist so willing gave me the Endone script. Without discussing the side effects.

    Endone worked for pain for me. But it gave me terrible nightmares  :#

    Used to love mersyndol too, helped with menopausal tension headaches! Once my gp  sent me home and told me to go to bed for 3 days and take mersyndol.......back then ‘‘twas like a holiday from everybody and everything. Heaven.

    I note that Insomnia has been mentioned in this discussion.   This was on SBS recently

    @kezmusc You should hear my rheumatologist's disgust over the difficulty in prescribing codeine for patients who need it.  I can't take a whole range of painkillers due to allergy.
