Luckily my partner has the same name as two of my formers. Weird, but convenient. Unfortunately I still called him by my son's fathers name a few weeks ago--the one rogue moniker in 20 years. Awkward, but he was OK; he's seen me say and do stranger things lately.4

Cruel irony of that is when I was trying to apply for disability due mostly to this cognitive issue the interviewer asked heaps of stuff and I just couldn't remember enough to answer. It is really hard to use your brain to fight for a disability pension when your brain IS the issue.
My most annoying thing is someone told me to use a simple uni knot to tie a fishing line. I got a knot book, I watched videos time and time again. Followed along and successfully tied the knot a few times. Next day I went to tie the uni knot and it is completely gone from my brain. Grrrrrr!3 -
Oh indeed...all of the above and more. For me, I don't think that the menopause has anything to do with it, I was waaaay past menopause at age 38 and this all went to hell in a handbasket after chemo and before letrozole at age 58. So the menopause was done and dusted twenty years before my brain turned to porridge. I wander around the house like a lost fart in a haunted shithouse, with this gormless, confuzzled look on my face. I have no f**king clue why I've entered a room, or what the hell I'm looking for in a cupboard. I can still put my thoughts into some sort of logical order when writing, but when talking by words come out all arse forwards, garbled and back to front. My conversations are littered with words like thingy, whatsit, the thingimabob. the whatchumacallit, whatshis name, and so on. It infuriates me as words have always been very important to me. I like to be precise and say what I mean and mean what I say. To be reduced to this is horrible.

BRAIN FART BRAIN FART BRAIN FART! Fuck me! Bloody hell isnt it nice to know we aren’t alone with all this! @zoffiel. I think you need my mixed tape playing in the background to help with your concentration lol. And @kezmusc @Sister @Ellamary98 that’s a doozy! Don’t feel bad. I know it’s sucks but I just laugh about it now when I do stupid stuff that’s my way of dealing with it other wise I just get myself too upset about it which I used to do all the time but I found accepting that this is how it is for me now has helped me heaps.
And the crew at work laugh with me too so I’m lucky like that. I have post it’s up all over my desk I use highlighters and red pens daily to remember stuff. I leave the empty box of any finished items on the front seat of my car so I don’t forget to buy them. I’m always making lists, I’m always asking hubby to text me and remind me to do stuff. I stick post it’s to my steering wheel. My budget is colour coded and I’ve listed the dates of all our direct debits so I remember to have money in that account but I sometimes forget to check it lol. So we all do it Brain fart syndrome (BFS) is a thing , it is real, and I had triple neg remember and I don’t take ANY post chemo meds and I still have it! It is better for me now though than 12 months ago. But i definitely still have it on a daily basis.
Chemo is like drinking round up so of course it’s going to fuck with your head. It’s toxic waste going into our bodies. But it saves lives and that’s why we all do it. At the end of the day I’m happy to be alive, and I’m ok with being a bit more fucked in the head than prior to treatment. Hubby makes jokes that it’s because I’m a feral port power supporter and they are all like that..... god love him5
