Night Howls

I got sick of teenagers (student free day) and took myself off for a walk to the Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens today. Beautiful rhododendrens and the camelias are still looking pretty good. I did make the mistake of parking at the top which meant that I had a steep walk back! But feeling a bit chuffed with myself - 5 km first thing this morning and then 3.5 km of steep terrain in the gardens. Legs are going to hurt tomorrow - it's the first real hills that I've been game to attempt since my experience during AC.8

Just started a new book and one of the characters had breast cancer, had chemo, has to take tablets for 5 years and had a right sided mastectomy- if it wasn’t for the fact I think she could be a spy or ex CIA I would think it was me!!1

I've woken up feeling pretty good, really. And the usual leg aches were very mild last night.2

Love waking up at 2.10am and then just dozing for the rest of the morning. Gonna be a long day0

I had so little sleep on Sunday night that I felt a bit shaky in the tummy yesterday, going off for my trial run of radiation. But maybe it was nerves. Last night I took a half-dose extra of oxazepam to try to make sure I slept well before my real radiation first blast today, and I did. @Sister and @arpie Those rhododenrons remind me of when my daughter and I walked the West Highland Way in Scotland - over eight days, in 2003. The rhodo trees were about twice as big as those. I was loving them, but they're regarded as a pest in Scotland.1

They are gorgeous, aren't they. I was reading in the guide that quite a number of them were rescued at the last minute from old gardens when the freeway went in - some of them brought over in the early days of settlement.
I struggled to sleep on the first day of rads, too @flaneuse. Good luck today - I'm sure you'll be fine.0
