And it IS Friday and I was looking forward to fish for dinner ...... I am surprised that I can still laugh about this one!! LOL

I went fishing today & found a fishing float, all set up, ready to use, stuck in the weed, covered in slime, so I cleaned it up & stored it in the yak ..... then I bumped into a fellow in a boat who was catching blackfish after blackfish ..... and I said I had a float but not 'weed' (these fish are vegetarian!) so he asked if I wanted some! I replied: 'Oooooh, Yes Please, but only if you can spare it' ....... then I caught a couple of nice fish, then a couple more, bigger ... and a couple of smaller ones - so I kept 5 & put the others back .....

I got back to the boat ramp & another buddy was loading his boat onto his trailer - so I waited in the kayak in the shallows chatting with him (the fish were in my 'keeper bag' hanging over the edge of the kayak) and when he'd gone, I loaded MY kayak onto the ute & went to deal with the fish ..... and they were all GONE! F**K ME!!

I couldn't believe it! I checked the bag for holes - there were none!! When I was sitting in the shallows, waiting for my buddy to load his boat onto the trailer, the bag must have gone 'horizontal' in the shallows - and the fish just swam out!! Oh well, the up side is that I didn't have to clean or fillet the fish! LOL. It was terrific fun on the water today! And I got pics of some of the fish ..... Bottom pic is the guy in the boat who gave me the green weed!! Luckily, I took pics of the last few .... the biggest would have been high 30cms

Blackfish/Luderick are LOVELY table fish & you can smoke them, grill them, pan fry them ...... a very versatile fish with firm white flesh. They put up a GOOD fight ...... and I haven't 'gone after them' for a couple of years!
