DCIS - oncologist?
I was diagnosed with moderate DCIS and after a double mastectomy other stuff was found in both breasts but no aggressive cancer. It’s been mentioned lately about seeing an oncologist. I wasn’t referred to one and unsure why and if it’s necessary… cost and time off work is a huge issue…does anyone have any ideas about if I…

First consultation for DCIS - private or public?
I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with low-grade DCIS, showing up in 2 clusters of microcalcifications on my right friedegg. All quite sudden given I'm 42 and was expecting to be chased away from BreastScreen NSW telling me it was cysts, which has happened to me previously. Instead, I got the works (mammo, ultrasound, biopsy…

It’s Just DCIS, the words of the BCN leaving me feeling like a fraud
It’s like 3 in the morning and as usual the words the BCN has said to me more than once has left me feeling like I’m a fraud and I don’t have the right to say I had breast cancer. Yes I know it could have been a lot worse, while going through this process my surgeon was pushing as long as the cancer had not got of the duct…

Canberra Surgeon
Hi all, I've just been diagnosed with high-grade DCIS after finding a lump in my right breast a week before Xmas. I've been referred to Dr Majeed as my surgeon but am just wondering if anyone has feedback about him, or can recommend someone? I'm needing to go public so I'm aware that choices may be limited by that. I…

DCIS not sure how to feel
Long story so I do apologize. In Nov 2015 I took a massive step of having weight loss surgery. In June I went to see my plastic surgeon in Sydney for my pre op to having loose skin removed due to my severe weight loss. Now just only about 3 weeks prior to this appointment had I had a mammogram as part of the surgeons…

Was diagnosed 27th November 2019 I'm in some kind of denial
My story actually starts when I had my 2 yearly mammogram which was in October this year. I'm one of those people that when some test needs to be done I do it. This time was no different but deep down I felt odd about it for some strange reason. All the other times I was of a lower weight but this time I was heavier and of…

Still struggling with the word pre-cancer after DCIS mastectomy
I was diagnosed with low grade DCIS in my right breast in Nov 2019 and had a mastectomy in Jan 2020. I am 38 years old. I saw 2 specialist and both recommended a mastectomy because I am small breasted. Had an expander put in, awaiting for reconstructive surgery which has been postponed due to covid19. I am now clear…
