Hi
I recently posted my diagnosis date in the wrong area. Think it is community adverts. Anyway...I was diagnosed after a core biopsy on the 16th of May.  On the 17th of June I had a partial mastectomy.

Surgeon post op appointment last Monday to be told that the little buggers (put nicely) were in 3 of 4 lymph nodes, which even surprised the Surgeon. So Monday week I am back in for an extraction of the rest of the lymph nodes. I am told 1 in 10 people end up with Lymphodema, so fingers crossed.

Phewie what a roller coaster of emotions... I am anxious of course as I have to see an oncologist and there is talk of chemo.. I know I have to have radiotherapy. How do you all deal with this,

I am an ocean swimmer, so today 10 days after the op I got back into the sea. It is only 14deg water temp here and boy was it a shock after a break.  It was great to move my arms if only a little.  I am very focused regardless on being the best I can be fitness wise before anything else happens.  Tomorrow back to the exercise physiologist to visit the gym if only for 15mins.

I will say I also have had chronic fatigue syndrome for the last 8yrs so not always able to exercise but the beach and the sea has always been my healing place.

I am pretty positive but gee I don't want to do this...

All the best for your next lot of surgery, @Alfie xx.  Your team will organise an appt with a Lyphodema specialist, to reduce the chances ...  there are 'massage techniques' and exercises that should help - also possibly using compression garments.

Yes, it is a huge roller coaster ride .....  so just take each day, one at a time xx  Try not to get ahead of yourself.   With node involvement, chances are you will need chemo - your Onc will take you thru all that ... but some members also sail thru their chemo as well!    I found the Rads not to be too bad (I didn't do chemo.)

Make haste slowly with your swimming and exercising .... you don't want to overdo the exercise bit as it may cause setbacks ... and after the next lot of surgery, you may also need longer to recover - and let's face it - swimming in winter ... SUCKS as it is so cold and THIS winter really does seem colder than normal!

Bummer about the chronic Fatigue too!  :(   I love the ocean & sea (usually just fishing it tho!  ;)

Take lots of big, deep breaths ..... you may need to pull on the 'big girl pants' ..... and march on forward xx

    take care xx
