Re: How should I feel
Firstly, acknowledge it is crap... It's all crap... We all have days like this. Look at what you have been through. Your mum died, organising stuff. Be kind to yourself. The port is good, I only have 3 more cycles of chemo left. Yes put the numbing cream on an hour before treatment. Energy, well that comes and goes... We have lost control of our lives.... For now.... It will return. Big hug.15Views2likes0CommentsRe: New Diagnosis HER2 negative
Hi Yep it's a hard road. When I was diagnosed I thought I took it pretty well. Wrong. How can you. A friend came round in the afternoon whipped me away to my favourite place by the sea and yep too many wines. I came home apologised for being merry to my husband and sobbed my heart out. I had questions for the first appointment but it wasn't the right time. I realised this is the first time in my life I am just following the process. For me I just take one step at a time. I don't want people telling me others stories. It's nice to chat about normal stuff with people. I agree if someone says I will cook a meal..yes please...we had a friend help to get the garden up to scratch. Things that were important to me. It is good there is a rural group you can connect with and great advice. Take care, my heart goes out to you.6Views2likes0CommentsRe: The waiting game...
Gemini78 It will be up to you when you want to go. I went to the Hat Show near the Marion Shopping Centre today. Bought some hats for when the hair goes. Lovely lady really helped. I just wanted it done. Also the lymph nodes taken out last week were clear. So I can drive, get back in the sea... Now that's going to be a struggle as the water temperature has dropped. Freezing .... Did you book the look good session. I was also told that when we have chemo, we should get vouchers for cheap parking. Hope that's right.13Views1like0CommentsRe: The waiting game...
Jennys thankyou so very much. 6yrs is great. Gemini yes see when your chemo is. Mine will be Mondays. Go on the look good feel good website. I booked for the 6 th of August at Flinders. Can always cancel There are others before but I am not ready emotionally yet. The cancer nurse said we can go to any and they are great for us. I am glad you didn't mind me checking up on you. We live so close. How good would it be if we had the champers on the same day... I have found some good hints here on the forum. Alfie10Views0likes0CommentsRe: The waiting game...
Hi Thanks for replying, it's only been a week. I had an axillary clearance last Monday. I am similar, this is a little bit more challenging than the partial mastectomy and a couple of lymph nodes removed. Great you were in Flinders Private, amazing just one night. I was in Ashford, tried to get out after one night but stayed for 2. They were also wonderful. See the surgeon tomorrow. Oncologist Monday, it's all go...Plus have found a place to try on a more funky hats for when I presume my grey hair goes. I ordered one online but it's not the best. Rang Cancer SA for advice today, spoke to the nurse, she was fantastic. So I have booked into the Flinders look good feel good workshop. Anyway swimming will be great but not sure about pools and bugs.... I just contend with the cold and dumpers....oh yes and hoping the fishing community don't snag me on their lines. You can always private message me. Keep in touch. Might see you at Flinders.8Views1like0CommentsRe: Starting Chemo
Hi Gingin Thankyou for that. My surgeon believes just move your arm as per normal. He wants me back swimming which will help, the sea is pretty cold. However I have been following the BCNA pilates exercises. All the best for Wednesday joleystubb, if you are like me you may be nervous.37Views1like0CommentsRe: Starting Chemo
Well great I don't have to take a flask. Giggin why did you have cold packs for your feet and hands was it to stop neuropathy?? May I ask if anyone used a dietician prior to the start of chemo. I have just had my lymph nodes removed and as mentioned will start chemo on the 29th of July. Hope I can lift my arm again. Good luck Joeystubb. Yep cuppa tea is looking good.23Views1like0Comments
