Yep. On the sofa at the moment but eyelids drooping. Felt so anxious last night that I took a Valium. Cracked four hours straight so maybe it helped. Probably shouldn't take another tonight but still feel absurdly anxious.0

I felt sick last night so had an Ativan and managed to sleep through until 2:30am - kept trying to go back until 4. On the other hand, I had a great day yesterday. I had an appointment in the city first thing so met a friend at the Art Gallery and went to the Impressionists exhibition they've got on. Bloody tired by the time I picked the kids up, though - could have easily gotten home and gone straight to bed.0

I too get woken by hot flushes every few hours. A trip to the loo and a glass of water helps . I also swear by melatonin troches from a doctor not the pills and find this has always helped even if I have woken since oestregen is not allowed anymore. I also find exercise -at least a walk every day seems to improve time btw hot flushes. Am also having acupuncture for hot flushes and so far seem less frequent but quite intense. Go well everyone -it is always good to know we are not alone0

@MoiraC My GP mentioned melatonin a while ago. I think it will be my next step. But tbh I don't think it will help. It's the hot flushes now that are the main problem. I think I need to concentrate on mitigating them.
Sounds like a lovely day @Sister. I love going to art galleries. Take it easy today.0 -
Kmakm -worth a try with the melatonin. I am also hoping acupuncture will help with hot flushes. My integrative medicine specialist recommended it and the Lifehouse Cancer centre acupuncturist says she has had good results with 6 sessions. Will let you know and others if it helps.1

@MoiraC I've been chatting about acupuncture on a couple of other threads here. Clinical studies have shown it has no effect on hot flushes (my oncologist looked it up for me when I enquired). She did mention that some might have a placebo effect, and if that was the case then good! Some of the women here have reported it helps while others have said not at all. I say give it a go and if it works for you, fantastic! I'll be interested to hear how you go.
Definitely will ask the GP about melatonin.0 -
Picked up the melatonin today so starting it tonight. It better work at $40 a pack!0

@kmakm your oncologist doesn't sound like the most user friendly individual. It has been repeatedly proven that placebos work on occasions, so who is she to burst your bubble? Particularly if there is no harm in trying. It also doesn't seem like she is being particularly useful when it comes to things she should be talking to you about. Bloody scientists, can't live with them, can't live without them. And they wonder why we can get shouty. Phhfftt.0

@Zoffiel It's weird. She's lovely when I'm in the room, kind and sympathetic, but I get the feeling that I'm out of her mind from the moment I'm out of her office. Last time I saw her she thought I was having chemo the same day. I never have, not once.
Should I be telling her about the progression of the problems I'm having with my fingers? Clinically I would have thought she'd at least want to know for an accumulated body of information about my chemo.
Bugger it, I'm going to get into it with her. At this point I don't care, I just need to know who I should be talking to about this stuff. I'll email her on Monday. Phhfftt indeed.1
