Change of scene and STILL can't sleep. Bonus is the sound of the ocean. Drawback is that I managed to wake all 3 kids and the cat when I got up.

Oh dear. Hope everyone gets back to sleep. You'll probably sleep better tomorrow ss you adjust. Oceanside sounds perfect for you @sister, no bandicoots there.

I couldn't get to sleep unril about 1.30am. Almost 4.30 and a hot flush just woke me from a dream about cake. My tastebuds are rubbish but clearly my subconscious is keen for them to improve!

I hope it was a luscious cake - lemon drizzle with fat, juicy raspberries, Black Forest torte with plump black cherries...?

Like a big layer cake with lots of layers and each one filled with fruit or cream or ganache and very fancily iced in multiple colours. Mmmm... *licks lips*

I don't do  much in the way  of layered and iced cakes, but  do make a mean lemon meringue pie and also apple crumble. You  could have a (virtual) taste.

Dreaming of cake is good. I just woke from a very pedestrian dream about buying a BBQ set at a hardware store. I have no idea what that was about--i already own one. Anyway, I head straight for the power tools then hot foot it to the 'scratch and dent' trolley in the garden section at hardware stores. I was hanging out in the wrong Dept. Weird.

Lemon Meringue Pie does very nicely, @AllyJay. After @Zoffiel has whizzed up something delectable on the barbie.  Would anyone care for some apple slices with their coffees, after. Or maybe I could tempt you with mint slice?  Or just a range of local cheeses?

Hi @kmakm, l had a lot of trouble with constipation, l would have a few prunes or dates or prune juice and if l was on any pain killers like oxynorm which would block me up immediately then l would use Nu-lax which is a natural fruit laxative, worked well for me.

Licking my virtual lips after that apple crumble & lemon meringue pie @AllyJay.

I think the cheeses would go beautifully after my Italian Pear Cake and then we can finish with mint choc chip biscuits. Or just go for broke with my chocolate mud cake drizzled with raspberry coulis and cream.

Between us all I think we'd have a SPLENDID meal!

Thank you @Kazmar. I'm doing the prunes & prune juice thing. I've made some progress on this front in the last few days so there is hope!  :s

Tastebuds salivating - and they don't do that easily at the moment.  Maybe, I'll just make the coffee, bring the wine and liqueurs and  let everyone else cook. I'm overshadowed by brilliance.

I can see you @kmakm ! @zoffiel got off before I could ping her. I'm sitting here trying to get my phone to co-operate while I eat chocolate and try not to wake the extended family. Who cares about sleep!

Missed you @sister! You're probably walking now. I rolled over and managed to get back to sleep after 20 minutes of worrying... Which is what I'm going to try to do now. It's 50/50 this time of day though.

Who cares about sleep?! Ikr, but seriously, it's starting to make me look and feel like crap. I need something that will knock me out for eight hours straight. @SoldierCrab had a hammer on the Inspiration thread I think. That'd do the job!

The big op is starting to appeal from this point of view alone! The PS says it will take 8 - 10 hours. That will literally be the longest consecutive amount of time I will have been 'asleep' in over five months. Silver linings...

Morning lovely @kmakm. The sleep deprivation is awful for you all isn’t it. I’ve always been an early riser due to hubbys work. I wish I could help you guys with that.  I would walk with the hot flushes but I put the aircon on and laid on a towel and that helped somewhat. I also took daily coloxyl and senna for the constipation and that worked well for me. And because my taste was affected I craved certain things like beef chow mein I must of eaten that every day for weeks but I threw a heap of Vegas in it too. It was the salty bitterness I craved couldn’t eat anything sweet but did dream about cake too!  I make a good lemon meringue and chocolate cake amongst other stuff and just couldn’t stomach any of it. I am on hols in Agnes water and can hear the ocean roaring too @sister. I would love to share some local SA cheese with you all for sure!   Fingers crossed to you all sleeping better soon. My hot flushes stopped completely in July last year so I’ve slept really well mostly since then. Isn’t it good though to have others up to chat to on this forum so you’re not alone.  Big hug lovelies. Margie x
