Is that right? Did you really say that?

I'm trying to understand that many people have no idea what happens during chemotherapy - even those in my "circle" to whom I explained it earlier on - but I'm SO tired of people asking in emails or calls or face-to-face: "Are you starting to feel better?" - as though each week of chemo is getting me "back to normal". And I'm not even half-way through yet!6

oh @Flaneuse
I am sure they are thinking that Chemo will magic it all away but dont realise the toll it takes on our bodies as it does that... Bless their ignorance may they never have to know the ramifications of chemo....

My classic "Did You Really Say That" came last week when I went to our small town bank. New teller (older lady) said, "Oh you're so and so. I hear you have breast cancer. You need to get some 'aboriginal tea'. My neighbour had breast cancer and she drank it all the time. She died you know."
I had no idea who the bank teller was. She was new in town but she obviously thought that I needed some advice.
My reply "I will stick with the experts, thankyou."6 -
@arnlybub Here's a gift you can give to your work 'friend'... Excuse the profanity but I saw this and thought of you and everyone else who's contributed to this thread!
Some other way ruder and diabolical ones on this website if you are not faint of heart when it comes to swear words! K xox9 -
LOVE it @kmakm!!
I quite like this quote too:
"When life give you lemons, I won't tell you a story about my cousin's friend who died of lemons".
There's an American website that does 'empathy' cards that are just brilliant - https://emilymcdowell.com/collections/empathy-cards

@kmakm. You just made my day. I want one of those mugs. Classic comeback for those who insist on telling us how to live our "cancer life". I always want to say "leave me alone - I've got this far". However living in a small town it is necessary to watch what I say as I may need the favours returned that I have given to others. I already have a reputation at our local hospital of "don't argue with Ann".
Anyone out there going to the Field of Women and conference. I can't wait. It is my treat to me for having my life totally disrupted, turned upside down and having got this far into this rotten stoney path full of double gees and bindieyes. I certainly do not call it a "journey"!0 -
I'm going. What group?0

Ah, that group. Doesn't want me--I've tried to join a couple of times but there is a long running script that interferes and the page times out.1
