Art keeping me sane through another lockdown here in Vic.

I've entered this one into a landscape prize. I don't find out for a week if it made it through to the short-list!

It's called Path to Safety and is quite large at 76cm square.

Well I too am getting my creative on whilst in lockdown in Vic I love the time and space to write. Here's something new I've written...

I will
Remember….

 

I close my
eyes, in my ears your favorite songs soulfully pierce,

Amidst the
words, the melodic and impassable distance, I swear I see you,

Watchfully,
my startled gaze entrapped, as you lose yourself in time,

Softly
spoken, selfless pearls of wisdom departing from your lips,

My heart,
tangled, distorted and bleeding as you faded,

The shape of
your face, in the unimagined silence,

Hypnotized
by your earthly, lingering presence,

Pretending my
grappling, unsteady hand doesn’t search for yours,

In the
darkening wakeful sleep, I will remember the endless depths of you,

As I hunger for
a craving peace and beckoning acceptance.

I will
remember……you my beautiful Mum.
