Which MooGoo did you use?
Hi everyone, I’m one week into my radiation, so far so good. My skin was a little red last night. I’ve already got a tube of the full cream moisturiser of MooGoo, is this the right one one or will I get the udder cream? The strataxrt is pretty expensive! Also, I’m putting my cream on twice a day , is this enough?

- GirlzruleMemberHi
I had 20 rounds plus 4 boost.I used a combination of Moo Goo and Calendula Cream .I found the Calendula Cream to be superior The one in the tube is easiest to spread ,It relieved the itching and treated the skin.I had hardly any skin damage .I applied it straight after and a few times a day . - KayB55MemberCaz1, how wonderful to hear from you (but better if neither of us were dealing with this). We might even finish together if there is work needed on the machine over the next few weeks. Like you, I have mild asthma and yes, it is difficult to know if it is left over from chemo, just day to day issues or rads - we live in interesting times.
I have mepitel and I particularly like it when they first put it on just before action stations because it is nice and cool on my surgery scar. Will it make a difference? Like everything we have experienced over the last how many months, no way to really know. We 'just keep swimming' (from Dory from Nemo) which is what I feel like.
I am back at work teaching but because I am still having treatment, the school got a replacement in for this term so that I can transition back to work. I can be there if I can be and not be if I can't. I think the 'I can't' days are coming. But that said, I hope we can both see the light at the end of the tunnel and it definitely is not a train. Regards Kay - Caz1MemberHi @KayB55 , I’m 10 down, 15 to go....we are doing this together! :) I’ve always got a bit of a cough due to asthma so hard to tell too. I’m a little tired too some days, not sure 🤔 if this is rads or hangover from chemo
@Sister I asked again about mepitel but they don’t offer it at Peter Mac, a public hospital - KayB55MemberI am into my radiation treatment, 12 down 13 to go! I am using udder cream so fingers crossed. I know we are having a hot summer but am feeling quite hot all of the time and with fan blowing on me now have a bit of a cough which I know is normal from radiation but then it could be from something else. As always, thank you all so much for the advice above that coupled with the advice from nurses etc really is just so reassuring as we go through this unique journey. Regards to all Kay
- I asked about the mepitel as well. Was told that it was used on full mastectomy clients, and that there would be no gain for me.
I had no issues with Radiation except the usual heat, redness and slight peeling. That’s where Bepanthen came into good use. The nurse will show you how she wants it applied, ( like covering your area in a thick paste applied with a hygienic stick) don’t skimp on it, and they will provide you with padded dressing to go over top to help it absorb into skin and not rub of on your clothes.
My skin stayed in tact with no issue or infections.
Any issue always seek advice from the nurse. - SisterMemberNo-one offered Mepitel but I had read here of other women using it so I asked. The response was "we don't use it unless someone wants it" (begs the question of who would know about it to ask). They put it on before treatment every Monday, patching it during the week if necessary, and I took it off after treatment each Friday. One time, I hadn't noticed that there was a 1mm gap for a day or two - that left a dark tan line so I do believe that the film helped save my skin.
- Caz1MemberOk, Udder cream it is ....for my udder! Haha :D
Thanks ....all the advice is amazing, will keep all your tips in mind as I go. You gurlz are the best <3 xxx
@kezmusc great advice as per usual.Have taken on board hopefully won’t have to use them. But my luck probs will ;)
@Shellshocked2018_ my tube of bepanthen was my best friend in chemo for my split lips, carried it with me everywhere, looks like it might be for rads too.
@jennyss the cold water tip is great
@Sister they aren’t giving me the mepitel film. hope that’s not going to be a problem .🤷🏻♀️
@Tinks thanks for your advice I obvs need to up my cream game during the day - Scared_MumMembermy daughter used MooGoo Udder Cream with fantastic results
- Hi Caz1, I used MooGoo Udder cream during radiation treatment last year.
The nurse gave me a tube of Bepanthen Antiseptic Soothing Cream ( you can purchase this from your local supermarket around $9-$10 a tube. This worked really well when I was quite sunburnt and started to peel ,was used with padding that the nurse provided, they should show you how to apply it if need be. I had no break down of my skin. Just keep remembering to apply all day as needed. - jennyssMemberDear @Caz1,
I used pure sorbolene cream (no glycerine). It was what my clinic reccommended. I also had a squirty bottle of chilled water in the frig, and would spray the cold water straight over newly applied cream and dab off the worst sloppiness. This treatment relieved the heat for a while very well. I also found that the cream washed out of my cheap cotton soft bras very well. Gel, as @kezmusc reports, can be very good if you start to blister, crack and peel (LOL). For me, my skin healed up very quickly after the end of treatment.
