Anastrazole

Has anyone else had issues with anxiety taking Anastrazole? I am only 12 days into taking it but felt very unwell, tired, rapid...and slightly out-of-kilter heartbeat, tight and sore muscles and am completely exhausted tonight. I was wondering if there is any way around this at all?

Hello @tessg,
I have been taking anastrozole for seven years; and lucky duck me, I have had minimal side effects. I am sure other network members will share their experience and advice. Others have changed to, and away from anastrozole to avoid side effects like yours and other not fun things. I think to write down your symptoms in a diary to help you report to your doctor or oncologist or breast cancer nurse will be good.
Do you like walking? That is my go-to. Are you working?

Sorry that you are having these side effects, @tessg - I've been on it 5 years now & am going OK - just a few aches now & then, mainly & sore feet!
Contact your Onc/Breast Care Nurse now & let them know - you may be able to get an earlier appt to see the Onc, assuming you wouldn't be seeing them now for a few months? I only lasted 6 weeks on Letrozole, then 6 months on Exemestane, before changing to Anastrozole, which ended up being the best one for me.
Everyone reacts differently to the different AIs, some have side effects, others just sail thru it blissfully unaware of side effects (lucky them!) .... As @jennyss suggests - gentle exercise like walking could be good for you, if you are able ....
Take care, all the best ..1 -
Thank you so much for your comments Jennyss and argie - I felt better today, maybe it was just a bad day. Jenny yes I am still working full time - I did so through radiation too, as I thought if I kept busy it would be best - just feel tired some days, but then I've never been a good sleeper either - maybe it's a combination of a few things! Thanks again - I hope you're both going well x1

Dear @tessg,
I'm glad you have had a better day. I am going well thank you. I did return to work for a year after radiation finished, but I'm retired now.
working and handling the cold Bathurst weather! How about planning a nice little holiday sometime.
Best wishes from jennyss in Western NSW0 -
@tessg it takes time for the body to adjust to the meds. Glad things are improving. I didn’t work through my treatment due to having a foster child. I went back to work when the initial treatment was all finished. Still working part time now and getting age pension. Trying to keep the brain fizzle at bay. While I’m at work the cancer issues are pushed to the back of my mind most of the time.Beautiful Bathurst. My mums family all hailed from out west. Mudgee through to Wellington None left now accept for the kangaroo cousins. Its a different cold there. I loved running across the jack-frosted grass making circles in the lawn. My pop was always telling us off we were killing the grass by crushing it. MEMORIES
another good trick for keeping the joint aches at bay is don’t sit or lay around for too long movement/ exercise is important. Im a desk jockey and I definitely know when I haven’t moved enough.Hopefully things keep running smoothly for you1
