Hi
Well here I am. Somewhere I never thought I would. Bet I am not rare in this thinking but there you go.

A routine mammogram via breast screen on the 1st of May 2024 where I noticed dimpling. I decided not to wait so took myself to my gp the next day. In between the mammogram and dr I had felt a thickening. Off for a core biopsy on the 14th, results on the 16th and off to surgeon. Last Monday I had a partial mastectomy for early stage breast cancer.

I must say it has been a whirlwind quite a scary one. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and am finding the fatigue huge. I manage to stroll on the beach in the morning, shower and that is it for the day.

I am looking forward to connecting with other strong women.

Well done for acting so promptly on noticing the Dimpling, @Alfie!  Welcome to the Club you probably never thought you'd have to join!   I hope you are recovering well from the surgery.  Make sure you don't do anything too strenuous for the time being - as you don't want a setback.

Yes, it is a total whirlwind & it is totally normal to be scared, angry, teary too - as this diagnosis really mucks with our heads as much as our breasts!  If you need someone to talk to, give our Helpline a bell on 1800 500 258 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.)

Are you considering reconstruction at all?  We have a Private Group called 'Choosing Reconstruction' that you can join, for totally private conversations on reconstructions.

Make haste slowly at getting back to your previous exercise levels .... your body will 'let you know' when it is ready.  Just do gentle stuff at the start - like walking the beach xx

Have you received your pathology results yet?  Make sure you get copies of all of your scan/blood/pathology tests .... they should all be sent to your GP as well, in case your Specialist won't give them to you.    Take a trusted friend or family member with you to your appointments whilst going thru your 'active treatment', for both physical and emotional support.  xx. Also consider recording your meetings, as it is easy to miss one bit, whilst mulling over something that was said earlier!

Jump onto this thread to read up on some other areas in the forum ,... for 'off topic' discussions as well as the serious ones!  ;)  Here, you can show off your garden, pets, art & craft & even have a giggle at some of the funny threads too (we all need a laugh now & then!)

take care & all the best for your results

If you continue putting up posts/questions on this thread - it will sort of become a 'diary' of your active treatment - and handy to look back on later!
