It has been two years since diagnosis and treatment and finally my chemo brain is getting a little better and I am remembering a few things that happened.
One was my childhood neighbor invited me to her place with her hubby for an afternoon tea just after I was diagnosed, probably to try and cheer me up.
They like to try and outdo each other this couple by remembering and telling jokes.
This day they chose boob jokes. I think after about the 3rd or 4th joke they gave up but really didn't realize what the hell they were saying.0 -

I had a good one at my 12 month MRI. The radiologist is trying to get everything in the correct position for the machine and is having difficulty getting sll my bits in the right position.
Then she asks "Do you have one breast smaller than the other?
Me: Are you joking? What did you miss the scar on it or did you just not read my fucking chart?
OOPS.......it just came out.18 -

I had a friend who I thought would step up after my diagnosis and after my second mastectomy I ran into her and I hadn’t heard from her since I was first disgosed and we even live in the same town. She saw me and asked “how you feeling Margie” and I said to her well if you’d bothered to ask you would know wouldn’t you!, she starts crying and promptly apologises and then starts on about herself..... admittedly she had a few things going on but a text even every now and then would of been nice and she’d had bc herself around 5 or 6 years ago. She had very early stage a lumpectomy and hormone meds only and no chemo which I was so happy for her. But the support wasnt returned. As many of us know you certainly find out who your true friends are for sure. Xxx6

I'm a radiation safety adviser at a mine. My favourite so far has been the suggestion that I should look into worker's compensation due to my breast cancer. After years in the field of mine radiation safety I know most people have a limited understanding of the risks of low dose radiation so I patiently explained that there is no credible scientific evidence to link the extremely low levels of radiation that I received at work to cancer. Nope, advise from an experienced radiation safety adviser fell on deaf ears. She was still insistent that I look into workers comp.
Again - she meant well. They all do. But bloody hell! I didn't know whether to laugh or scream.2
