Along with Numpty, I have Bollocks and Arse hat.. Cockwomble. Bampot. Bawbag. Jobby. All attributed to the late, great Scotty. Not all of Scots origin, Im sure. But useful in emergencies.

On her first visit to Scotland, my daughter was somewhat confused by being constantly addressed as "hen". "What is it with the fowl thing?". It's Scots for love or dearie. Technically we all speak English, but.......I came out tonight with an expression I haven't used in years - not as green as he's cabbage looking - it's the numpty influence!

I'm not quite sure how haggis got in there, I mean that's a real and quite tasty thing. But eejit is another lovely word. You have to get the emphasis right, heavy on the eee, snappy on the jit. Scunner is another favourite, a thorough pain in the arse. There's probably a whole therapy here, combatting bc blues with Scottish words of criticism and belittlement!
