Triple Negative
Hi there, I’m new to this site and to be honest very scared. I had surgery a week ago to have a cancer removed (lumpectomy). Results are in. Clear margins and clear nodes (that’s the good news) Grade 3 Stage 1 so caught an aggressive cancer early but I’m also triple negative. For the first time since my diagnosis my doctor used the word chemo and it scares me more than the initial diagnosis. Everything I read about triple negative is scary. Everything I read about Chemo is scary. It still needs to be discussed wether chemo will be beneficial for me. Has anyone been diagnosed with triple negative and not required Chemo?

- Two sleeps until surgery but who is counting.
Looking forward to having this tumour removed for Christmas.
Feeling overwhelmed today just the normal ups and downs that go with BC.
Doing some research into head wear for when I have chemo, any recommendations? - Christmas will be all sorted next week, final shop for nieces and nephews.
😀 - SisterMemberJust enough time to sort out all of your Christmas and post-Christmas stuff so that you can take it easy when the time comes.
- At this stage will only be in overnight. Will pack a few extra things just in case I’m in there longer.
Will speak with breast nurse regarding pillow
😀 - arpieMemberGood to have a date booked in @Shellshocked2018_ ... yes, the waiting ins the pits! :( The High & Low Mood swings are a bit of a pain - and totally normal! Good that they are not continual. ;)
Yep, keep busy doing what you love doing!! Have you got a little pillow yet, to help support your surgery side post op? I had one left from precious shoulder surgery - it will become your best friend for getting some sleep! ;) Your Breast Care Nurse may be able to get one for you.
A few bits for your hospital visit ..... a front opening nightie (beats lifting everything over your head every time someone wants to look at it! ;) ) And ear plugs and an eye mask (hospitals are incredibly noisy and bright places!) Some puzzles or short stories/magazines (now is not the time to start reading War & Peace!) Some treats (nibbles or lollies - some even take their preferred TBags/Coffee in!)
And heaps of really NEAT tips here:

Take care, all the best xxxx - Thanks so much Soldiercrab, you have inspired me in so many ways, so thank you.
Yes I’m in fight mode now, still have times were it hits me again, but definitely more in fight mode.
Able to talk more about everything without breaking down which is good.
Staying Positive and keeping busy is the key.
11 days but who is counting ! 😘 - SoldierCrabMemberah @Shellshocked2018_
You are now in fight mode that is a good place to be ......
really get into your mediation now while you awaiting the next stage of treatments, it will be beneficial for you as you go through treatments. - Scans all clear, Surgery booked for December 19th, partial mascectomy.
Feeling better knowing that by Christmas this cancer will be cut out.
Next waiting game will be results from surgery to see if I have clear margins and if any lymph nodes were affected.
This waiting really sucks.
Once we have all the facts, I will have a plan of attack of how much and what type of chemo, and how much radiotherapy I will need.
I have the fight in me ,just want it all to start . - alibrienMemberHello Shellshocked2018. You will have your results by now. My advice is keep a diary of your symptoms. Change your diet the first day you start Chemo. The white bland diet is recommended. No cereals or grains, white bread only, no fruit, no tomatoes and no greens. Be vigilant with your new diet and rest up, take it easy. Only do what you feel like when you feel up to it. Hang in there. You will feel better one day.
- SisterMemberHope all goes well @Shellshocked2018_ Waiting is so hard.
