Masectomy no treatment

4 months ago I had a bilateral masetomy and reconstruction. I also had lymph nodes removed. Luckily the nodes came back clear and I didn’t have to have treatment or medication. 
At the moment all the past emotions have come back and I feel really emotional. I work in childcare and have become very protective of my chest which has caused painful tight shoulders. I guess I’m feeling guilty about feeling so emotional about this when others have to go through so much more. 
I thought I’d share in here in the hope that there would be others that feel the same.

    Thank you. I think this week has been the first time I’ve actually felt mad about my whole diagnosis. Although I cried ALOT in the beginning I felt pretty strong and positive. A friend recently asked if I’ve actually acknowledged that I had breast cancer and I don’t think I really did. I’ve only ever said it out loud a couple of times. My friends and family let people know so I didn’t have to. So I guess in a way I’ve disconnected myself from it. 
    At the moment Im trying to find a balance between grieving and being grateful. 
    This is such a wonderful sight with so many strong women.

    Agree with @BlackWidow Do not feel guilty
    Everyone's journey is so different and the diagnosis in itself gives you every reason to swear, say what the and anything else in between.  We all understand it and as the saying goes we're all in this together
    Wallow when you need to but if you find yourself being there a little too long then consider speaking with the BCNA helpline

    Hello @Legs75.  Do not feel guilty, it is the luck of the draw, as is everything in life. You have had the best pathology news possible so now move on with your life. Come on here to chat and vent and do remember that your strength may just help the next person who needs a friendly word.  We all go through emotions, good and bad, at some stage but we get through with the help of each other. Do you have a strong network of supportive family and friends ? Best wishes  Anne
