So much for good vibes. Scan day sucked . They've called me back.
This may come out not making sense as I am somewhere in between being scared shitless and f*/#&%g furious.
So after the mammogram and u/sound the doctor popped her head in (obviously they could see I was starting to freak out) and said there was no changes to last years scans. Gave me a smile and said goodbye. Phew.
I was feeling quite positive after that until the receptionist rang and said I needed to come back for another targeted ultra sound as the MRI had picked up something. The other two hadn't, yet again!
Oh and the doctor wanted me to go tomorrow and follow her to their other facility as she is only in Ipswich on Thursdays and wanted to talk to me.
So my head is in a mess and the tears are starting, my heart is pounding and I've got the shakes.
I don't know if I can do all that again. I know I am over thinking and not to freak out totally before I know for sure. But FAAARRRKKK this shit,

- ZoffielMemberGood news. Good luck.
- arpieMemberTOMORROW 12.30PM
It was the origanal incompetent who told me that my preferred US technician wasnt available until Jan - and had left a note on my file that i wanted to wait til she was back in Jan! NO!! NEVER! And anyone else looking should have seen that note and queried it, given the number of times i had rung asking for a date.
Totally agree @Sister ... i should do a big whinge to the Head office ... but will now wait for the results first! I have a good record of it all in these posts and the letter to my Rad Onc. She'd actually spoken to the nurse there today hence the phone call and 'Sorry ... you want it done NOW' conversation. So not sure if it was massive mis communication or deliberate games by the first person who was deciding who got appts first. She definitely said I had to fit in with THEM, as the parting comment!! No need for that statement if I had elected for the Jan appt. And we didnt end the conversation as friends!!
So... biopsy under ultrasound guidance tomorrow. Woo bloody Hoo
Just chatted with rad onc .... profuse apologies for the whole stuff up. Said she is happy to forward info in my letter to a manager if I want to take it further ... have said not just yet but thanks.
I will be in the brand new specialised Breast Biopsy unit just opened 2 weeks ago ... so just hope everthing is working as it should.
Many Thanks for your guidance and support ... i really appreciate it. Xx
Just the wait for results now grrr - SisterMemberIt is actually hard to believe mismanagement at that level. If it wasn't so bloody serious, it could be a comedy skit. I hope that you have documented all of this @arpie as it sounds like something that should affect their certification. Except, who's got the energy - I guess it depends just how angry you are. But @zoffiel is right - you are never going to trust them again with anything so it's best to let your wallet do the walking if you have a suitable alternative. Oooh...but wouldn't you just love to publicly shame them...probably best not to, though.
- ZoffielMemberOh, and, the oncologist is probably on leave too. You can always get your GP to write a referral to the Newcastle facility then get the results sent to your onc. There is more than one way to skin the proverbial cat.
- ZoffielMemberGoing somewhere else won't speed things up at this time of year, but I think you are doing the right thing. They have pissed you off so royally that your relationship with them is irreparably damaged and if they think that you, and your wallet, will turn up when they get their act together it would be nice to prove them wrong. These companies believe they will always have customers, there seems to be very little incentive to improve services. Tell them to jam it.
- arpieMemberThat’s a bugger @"Patti J". Insensitive prick as well. Yep ... go with @Zoffiel’s recommendations I reckon
The continuing saga of ......... I finally got thru to the radiology on their 1800 number today (after ringing the ‘old location’ again the other day to be told no nurses available to do the booking and not told why .. ) Yes, they HAVE moved location, and now they tell me the only specialist to run the machine is away for 4 weeks. FUCKING USELESS PRICKS. She did say they were trying to find some one to use the machine ......
To do the move at this time of year is bordering on negligence, I reckon. To not advise their clients (Drs and specialists) that they are doing it - is totally negligent and irresponsible, showing total disregard and indifference to their client’s needs and requirements (ie us, the patient), whether a serious issue or not. I told the receptionist to pass that on.
Then I got upset! She’s taken my details and has said someone will get back to me (AS IF), as (once again) no nurses were there to make the appointment. (Which has been their excuse from Dec 4th.) And That would be because their machines arent even hooked up to be used, I reckon.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH THE LIES AND MISINFORMATION that’s been handed out for the last 2 and a half weeks! AND STILL NO CLOSER TO A FUCKING BIOPSY APPOINTMENT!
At least I am more ANGRY right now, than upset. Highly unlikely to be seen ANYWHERE before New Year, I reckon. And this is NSW’s 3rd biggest town ..... UNBELIEAVABLE!
My rad Onc should have received my letter by now requesting my films, reports and referral be sent to Newcastle - see which one rings first ..... I haven’t heard from her either.
NOT HAPPY, Jan! - FlaneuseMemberI have a pelvic floor issue, which I discovered (whole other story) just before my mastectomy. Even the female specialist physio in gynae issues calls in another female physio as chaperone when she's examining me.
- kezmuscMemberEeeew @"Patti J" Not nice at all. Sounds a bit creepy.
I felt very uncomfortable on my initial u/sound. The sonogropher was a young man probably in his mid to late 20's. Not that he did anything inappropriate but it was a very long, very thorough examination that seemed to take an eternity. It probably wouldn't bother me these days but way back then it was a bit upsetting and just felt wrong. From then on I have generally had a nurse present for no particular reason, it's just been the norm. The only male doctor that has examined me from then on without a female present was my onc for the first couple of times but he always asked if it was ok and mostly the reason was that the nurses were so busy it would have been a bit of a waiting game until one was free. - ZoffielMember
He sounds like an insensitive piece of work @PattiJ. If you have to go back, ask for a nurse to be present if you need to strip off. You can ask that a note be added to your file stating that is your preference--you have every right to make it clear what you are, or are not, comfortable with. By making an official request you remove any implication that you are being selective about what males you are referring to--it can be a blanket condition that covers all the staff who may treat you.
I guess patients like me don't help when it comes to making them think about privacy or concerns about being examined by someone of the opposite sex. As long as they are respectful and make some attempt to prevent random bystanders wandering in, I really don't care. I know many women feel the way you do and there is nothing wrong with you making it clear you are not comfortable. It's all about you, much as they can struggle to understand that.
As to the comments about the implants--what a tosser Mxx
