He sounds like an insensitive piece of work @PattiJ. If you have to go back, ask for a nurse to be present if you need to strip off. You can ask that a note be added to your file stating that is your preference--you have every right to make it clear what you are, or are not, comfortable with. By making an official request you remove any implication that you are being selective about what males you are referring to--it can be a blanket condition that covers all the staff who may treat you.
I guess patients like me don't help when it comes to making them think about privacy or concerns about being examined by someone of the opposite sex. As long as they are respectful and make some attempt to prevent random bystanders wandering in, I really don't care. I know many women feel the way you do and there is nothing wrong with you making it clear you are not comfortable. It's all about you, much as they can struggle to understand that.
