Bayside Melbourne
Hi everyone,
Just diagnosed sadly. It's a little lump so this whole situation should just end up a another campfire story. Hopefully.
My family has never experienced anything to do with the big C word. It's very foreign to any of us and I was just wondering if there is any one base I'd Melbourne who was experiencing the same thing? If so it would be really nice to meet up for a coffee or something and just chat about what's to come next.
Love and hope, Sim x

I am in Brisbane but my McGrath nurse had heaps of contacts and resources ...I expect that they all do! All the best.

Hi Simsonic wishing you all the best with your upcoming treatment.
I was diagnosed last December and have finished surgery for a single breast reconstruction (no chemo or radiation). After the surgery I was pleased to find my hospital (Cabrini) run an early stage breast cancer rehab program. There were supervised gym sessions followed by recovery information sessions. I found the social connections I made were a great side benefit, and some of our group had coffee catch ups after the sessions and gained support from sharing experiences – like on this site.
I've heard that some other hospitals in Melbourne also offer similar rehab programs, and I don't believe you need to have surgery at the particular hospital to participate – although there was a charge for the sessions which my extras health insurance covered.
If you have any questions, let me know, :)
