Diagnosed with T3N1 ductal cancer this year. Now post surgery and radiotherapy and about to start abemaciclib. Just wondering how anyone on this drug manages the side effects.

Hi @Elsiej how are you getting on with the abemaciclib? I'm on week 4 and getting low grade diarrhoea, which the gastro medication is managing, other than that I'm feeling ok. My oncologist said they will monitor the diarrhoea and if necessary give me a break, and review the dose, but they don't want to do that at this early stage if I can manage it, and hopefully it will settled down.
I was diagnosed with stage 2 grade 3 IDC 1 lymph node involved. My treatment was lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and now hormone blockers and abemaciclib.0 -
Hi @Katie46 - I'm doing very well thank you - two weeks into treatment. I did modify my diet to try and hopefully avoid the worst of things which seems to have helped I think. Basically following what to avoid if you have diarrhoea whilst maintaining a balanced diet at the same time. So now on decaf coffee, almond milk and lactose free yoghurt and cheese amongst other things - not too hard to get use to. Living alone I don't need to cater for anyone else.

Thanks @Elsiej, I'm trying to figure out what it doesn't like, very spicy food is a no, but coffee and normal milk is fine for me, although I do alternate with almond milk. I've skipped my calcium tablet the last couple of days and I've had a good few days, so now I'm suspicious it might be that. I will start the calcium tablets again and see what happens. Luckily, one of the gastro tablets seems to fix things for me, so at least it easily managed.0
