Community highlights

Every week we have so much variety in the posts being shared on the online network.  These can include questions about treatments, updates on how things are going, and celebrating milestones. Here are some good conversations you might have missed:

In the news

SBS News has reported more than 9,000 Arabic-speaking women have not had a breast screen in the past two years. A new campaign led by BreastScreen NSW and the Arab Council Australia is engaging with Arabic women to help them understand the importance of regular breast screening. As part of our commitment to improve support for people affected by breast cancer from different cultural backgrounds,  we have created a series of videos of women sharing their story in different languages. Listen to Randa’s breast cancer story in Arabic (with subtitles).

BCNA news and events

Have you taken BCNA's member survey? The survey will feed in to our State of the Nation report. The report will help us to ensure we continue to understand your needs so that we can influence and improve the health care system on your behalf. The survey closes in a few weeks. Click here to take it today.

A State of the Nation discussion will take place in Alice Springs on 19 June. If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer or are supporting someone who has been diagnosed, we want to hear from you. For more information and to register, click here.

BCNA's next information forum will be on 4 July in Port Lincoln, SA. For more information and to register, click here.

Have a pleasant weekend, everyone!

I enjoyed reading the reality of a breast cancer husband. In marriage the two become one and it is true as well in couples with breast cancer, it affected both deeply. Should be more help and counselling for hubbies, perhaps a his and hers McGrath nurse?
