What Cancer Gave Me

It resonated so much for me, my Mum also was an Artist and she passed away 7years ago from an unrelated Cancer to her Breast Cancer 26yrs previous. I know the joy she got from it, but I too never tried and yet all her art supplies sit collecting dust. I guess it made me think too, maybe this is something I could try for creativity, or even as you say, giving a go something youve always wanted to do. Thanks for some inspiration and much needed thought provoking! Loved it! Melinda xo
Sweet Melinda, I am so sorry for you loss. Thank you for taking time to comment on my post. I did think when mum persisted that one day I might regret not trying and it did contribute to the fact that I gave in a tried. I've always had a creative nack in me trying my hand at furniture restorations, mosaic, scrapbooking etc and so has my mum, but I just always thought I would not be good at art. The thing is you don't have to be 'good'. Anyone can paint, and express themselves. If you have a love for art I would strongly recommend you maybe go for 1 or 2 art lessons for beginners. Even if you do just one canvas. You never know, you might just absolutely love it and find it as therapeutic as I did. Mum often says that when she misses us a lot she loves taking out her paints and also gets lost in it. It helps her cope with the pain of missing us and the distance.
Please let me know if you ever try. Huggles x
