Re: Shocked!
@Peck Being shocked is part of the experience. I think I went through zombie mode for two weeks.
All cancers are being researched so anything you read is probably out of date. As @June1952 recommended, the others with triple negative will be able to guide you a bit better. Join up the triple negative group if you are comfortable doing so. I love to give support to all the lovelies on here but my knowledge of many of the cancers is limited. If you have a McGrath nurse she will be able to assist as well. I personally asked my chemo nurses everything as they have seen and heard so much. They often give me great tips.
Deep breaths and know you are in good hands. Instead of concentrating on the diagnosis, research where you are going to holiday when you have finished treatment. Also, look up the Otis foundation who offer free holiday stays. You might want to get some friends together or go with family, totally up to you.
Sending big hugs. You got this.

Re: Double Mastectomy advice
I had a double mastectomy in 2017 and these were things I found helpful. I was given two cloth drain bags by my breastcare nurse...basically two shopping type or library books bags. I never used them however, as I just popped my drains into my dressing gown pockets so I didn't have to carry them. Button down the front nighties or pyjamas...not silk as you'll slide down the bed. Dressing gown with two large pockets, slippers that were easy to put on without having to use a finger at the heel to get on. They must be non slip, or the nurses will not let you wear them...slip hazard. I found my kindle easier to hold in bed with one hand whilst lying down, and increasing the font size, meant I didn't have to wear my glasses. Easier to 'turn' the page too, with a finger tap. I took my knitting too. My own tea and coffee as hospital grade is yucky. I also took some cup o' soups for a change from tea. Some hard sweets, I took Werther's to keep my mouth moist. (My excuse...I have a sweet tooth). Bickford's Lime cordial as the bottled water at room temperature is very flat. Small change for the Pink Lady trolley and also the vending machine for midnight snacks. Eye drops as the aircon can dry your eyes out and also lip balm for the same reason. I wore a light pashmina type shawl as my bed was under the ceiling vent for the aircon. Long charger cords for phone and kindle. I'm sure others will add to this list. Good luck with your surgery, which for me, was remarkable little pain.

Re: Double mastectomy
I am sorry to hear. It was a shock for me too when I was told I needed a single mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy. I have however found a lot of positives in having a mastectomy and have decided to have a double a mastectomy. I stained flat and love it. I am comfortable and recovery was beautiful.
I am happy to answer any specific question you may have. Here a link on staying flat that may help.

Re: Peter Mac Radiotherapy Experience
Hi again @Katie46, I’ve just read on another thread that they do require you to hold it for the right side too. However, as I said, they do practice runs with you and it’s not hard. If you have problems with it during the treatment, the machine automatically stops if it’s not held right. The technicians will guide you through it and help you. For me it was a breeze and nowhere near as scary as I thought it would be. Now I’m just hoping the long term effects are not too damaging and that my heart and lungs were protected.

Re: Anxiety Plus
@CeeCee I also had multiple areas of cording from the axilla clearance surgery down my arm. The physio worked on it and they went probably within a month or 6 weeks of ongoing physio and daily massage/ exercises. It can be quite debilitating, as you hit the limit where it is. For me it was my dominant arm and hand and I just kept using it every day to its capacity, keeping the compression garment on and stretching/massaging. You or partner/friend can give it a little massage you won’t damage anything and weirdly they pop as they resolve. I am 3 months on from surgery and they haven’t come back. Good luck with the physio.

Re: Anxiety Plus
I am So sorry to hear of your Mums passing and your Dad's falls & surgery @CeeCeexx Specially today. Sending your a big hug xx
When you did the search on Cording - did you click on 'Newest' for the results? For some SILLY reason, it show OLDER posts first, when it SHOULD ALWAYS show 'newest' first!! @Mez_BCNA - can this be addressed, please?
.... There actually have been some discussions more recently here - specially @MrsMorrisey who had some laser done on hers? She may be able to enlighten us more on that treatment?

Re: Anxiety Plus
Dear @CeeCee, you must especially miss your mum at a time when you need her most. I would love to be able to have a hug from my lovely mum and let her shoulder my worries for a little while. I just try to remember her placid, gentle ways and imagine what she would say to me. It seems to help a bit. Sending you best wishes for strength at a very challenging time.
