Me! I take 10mg as the 20 was too much and my oncologist agreed and prescribed me 10. I was surprised but I thought she would prescribe it if it didn’t work. Feel heaps better

I always find it really strange that doctors can have differing opinions. I was told that blood tests for menopause are often incorrect. Seeing that your bloods are inconsistent the drs choice for Tamoxifen is wise as it can be a pre/peri/post menopausal drug. Maybe your body is just working it all out after the trauma of the surgery. Our bodies are complex beings

What a wise son you have. Its always a good parenting moment when your kids come out with a wise comment. A credit to you. I'd be getting as far away from HRT as possible. For all you, your body has gone through it all and when you stop, you may not notice. With regard to the diseases you mentioned, as women we all get older and most don't develop these conditions otherwise we would all decline after 50! Our bodies know what to do when it treated well. Keep us posted on your surgery and treatment.

Very diplomatic statement! Of course she can do whatever she likes however don’t omit crucial information such as it was DCIS and she had surgery. The wellness centres are amazing and I’m pretty sure we would all go if we had the time and the money. She talks a lot about her healing journey and that’s very unrealistic for the majority of us. My motto is “you do you” but if you’re a public person then make sure you tell the whole story, not just the controversial bits to get headlines. Great to hear that BCNA has released this statement and I hope people read it instead of hearing all the noise about her and her products.

Hi Karen. We have very similar stories. I’m 51, 50 when diagnosed, had grade 2 stage 2 with no lymph. Two ops, first removed the invasive, second for extensive DCIS. No chemo for me, was offered but declined. Did not do oncotype. 15 rounds of rads with a boost on the tumour bed. It wasn’t really that bad just mentally taxing and just a bit crap. Boob held up ok but now I’m religious with my oils so the skin is looking and feeling better than before. Bit of swelling and pain a couple months later which was surprising but see an onco physio for that. She massages and lasers the scar. Sorry to hear you had the same thing but on here you’re never alone xx

Re: Radiotherapy burns
Are the burns an open wound? Has the skin broken? If not use sudocreme, the zinc has excellent healing properties and then out a fresh chux ior soft cloth to stop it ruining your clothes. Slathering it on at night is good and wear an old T-shirt. When it’s healed use calendula oil to heal any residual skin damage.

If you don't want to take them, don't take them. But don't kid yourself that you can tinker with this stuff without potentially tragic consequences. What about drs that prescribe medications with “potentially tragic consequences” to women who are going through cancer. Geez chemo, radiation, medication and surgery can all have “potential tragic consequences”. Stupid thing to say @Zo@Zoffiel and precisely the reason I hardly come on here.

Geez @Zoffiel bit harsh in the wording there. Not everyone has a great med onc that understands. Mine changed her mind on what was her original plan of Zoladex and Letrozole and prescribed Tamoxifen, with no explanation. As a person who has never taken any prescription medication my whole life, you can see my hesitation as it will be a shock to my system. You hardly hear and women say they sail through these drugs. I’m certainly not kidding myself.

I just found this thread. All my favourites are on here @cactusk @arpie @FLClover @iserbrown Hi everyone!! Best timing to read this as I was thinking I wonder if anyone starts these drugs slowly. Our bodies need a bit of respite. Another thing to annoy my med onc about 🥹😂

Re: DCIS question: Does a core needle biopsy break the duct and cause the cancer to spread?
I’ve had two surgeries and have two more rads to go. I reckon the biopsy was probably the most painful out of all the procedures. Had a little cry afterwards 😢
