How tired is tired
. Good Morning.
Just a quick question.
I had breast cancer in my left breast, have now had both removed, some precautionary chemo. I was so tired before any of it let alone how tired I am now.
I spent 18 months travelling through India, my life was calm, all I did was yoga, meditation, meet new people, drink chai, laugh, wonder through the amazing Himalayas, hike, hug trees and live a dream..... But I was tired so much of the time. Some days I needed naps, most days I had to rest... I didn't have energy that would last.
I did many blood tests checking for parasites etc while away and when I got home, all clear. My surgeon and other doctors in the hospital told me this wasn't caused by the cancer. I don't understand tho, if ur body is trying to fight something how it wouldn't be tried and fatigued.
My question is.... Was anyone else tired before they were diagnosed? Did u feel anything physically different?
Thank u, Healing light and energy x

- SevenbeMemberIt's possible that the tiredness and poor immune symptoms aren't from the cancer itself, but rather other effects from whatever caused the cancer in the first place. But I agree, I wish there was some more research about this.
- P2TMemberThank u so much Ladies..... I can't understand why the doctors are saying it's not from the cancer. Maybe if I get enough people saying it is they may be able to help us understand where we're at with our health. Healing light & love X
- Michelle_RMemberI was also very tired in the months before diagnosis. On our regular morning walk, I remember saying to my husband that I could just lie down on the sand and go to sleep. This was not normal at all - could usually do 7kms and not even feel it. Now 4 years later I still get bouts of tiredness if I don't exercise but mostly things are back to normal. xx Michelle
- primekMemberI was very tired and had every blood test known to man...which found anomalies but no diagnosis. Eventually I just exercised more, rested better and ate well and felt better. Just prior to finding my lump the tiredness had really returned. I truly believe it was causing the tiredness. I am still tired now. ...but it is only a short time after chemo and I am not rushing back into working life just yet.
- socodaMemberHi P2T, I can remember months prior to diagnosis walking up the stairs at the train station and being exhausted when I got to the top (3 flights). Also coming home from work and falling asleep as soon as I sat down. Waking up and having dinner then asleep again and this was every night of the week! I put it down to getting older and needing to increase my fitness levels, which weren't particularly low! I've had my surgery 3 months ago, didn't need chemo or radiotherapy, am back at work full time and can now make it up the stairs and stay awake at night (until a reasonable time!!) Still have days where I could fall asleep standing up but I'm now exercising 1/2 hr five days a week and feeling like I have some energy, so I reckon it just takes time!!! Sending good energy vibes to you, all the best. Xx Cath
- I was also very tired for about six months before my cancer was diagnosed. I was so tired I put off my regular mammogram for some months and nearly didn't bother doing it! How ironic. Since chemo and radiation have finished I am now on tamoxifen. I am still very tired. I have been told the tiredness can last 12 to 18 months. Everyone expects me to bounce back straight away but I haven't. Best wishes Karen

Thank you for getting back to me, I thought I wrote to you, but clearly not.
Has this husband of yours picked up his act since your diagnosis? I hope so, it's hard enough to look after yourself let a lone others. : )
I guess if a common cold can wear us down, cancer certainly can. I just can't wait for the day when I feel like a normal, healthy, awake person again....I have been tired for sooooo long now, I'm bored with it.....and my friends must think I am so boring too.
White light and love x
I didn't even do chemo! Only surgery and radiation, both of which took it out of me further. The fatigue has improved but it's still present ?? They told me fatigue is not from treatment. Wish I could get to the bottom of it so my life isn't still affected. But they also told me the crazy rash I got all over wasn't from radiation but it coincided so I'm not sure what to believe. The only thing I can trust is the reality of my experience.
My naturopath says I'm still toxic so the best I can do is remain on a detox diet and take supplements. She suggested about 2yrs after treatment finishes the radiation will have left my body.
It was so frustrating being told everyone is different and being given no expectations. I don't know if it's common to still be tired after this long. Maybe others recover faster.

Not tired before diagnosis as such but I had severe allergic reactions to just about everything and spent 90% of the time on steroids because of it... each time would get really bad and flulike .symptoms that lasted months...
My immune system was just horrid...
Have a crazy job, lazy selfish husband, 2 elderly sick pets one of which is diabetic requiring soecial.feeds and insulin injections every 12 hours and had o'seas visitors for 3 months during this prolongued pre diagnosis mess so could not allow kyself to feel at all tired as simply had.to.push myself to cope...
But my inflamation markers were strangely up that whole.time and was being told "just one of those tjings" and "probably due to your allergies"... and I was jjst ill.so often and most off thentime could not work out what I was exposed to or consumed to have such horrid reaction...
Weridly enough, yes still have allergies but ever sinxe the surgery and even during chemo I have not had a single unexplaoned allergy or illness... While my.immune system is now crap and have been tired as can be and been suggering many persistant trush infections my immune system.in terms of those debilitating allergy systems has held up and not a single damn reaction...
So yes - BC definitely does wear you out without you realising it - our immune system acts out and kind of fights itself and the rest of the body - just that nobody in the medical world seems to be licking up on this ??
