How tired is tired

. Good Morning.

Just a quick question.

I had breast cancer in my left breast, have now had both removed, some precautionary chemo. I was so tired before any of it let alone how tired I am now.

I spent 18 months travelling through India, my life was calm, all I did was yoga, meditation, meet new people, drink chai, laugh, wonder through the amazing Himalayas, hike, hug trees and live a dream..... But I was tired so much of the time. Some days I needed naps, most days I had to rest... I didn't have energy that would last.

I did many blood tests checking for parasites etc while away and when I got home, all clear. My surgeon and other doctors in the hospital told me this wasn't caused by the cancer. I don't understand tho, if ur body is trying to fight something how it wouldn't be tried and fatigued.

My question is.... Was anyone else tired before they were diagnosed? Did u feel anything physically different?

Thank u, Healing light and energy x

  • I was also very tired for about six months before my cancer was diagnosed.  I was so tired I put off my regular mammogram for some months and nearly didn't bother doing it!  How ironic.  Since chemo and radiation have finished I am now on tamoxifen.  I am still very tired.  I have been told the tiredness can last 12 to 18 months.  Everyone expects me to bounce back straight away but I haven't.  Best wishes Karen
  • Hi P2T, I can remember months prior to diagnosis walking up the stairs at the train station and being exhausted when I got to the top (3 flights). Also coming home from work and falling asleep as soon as I sat down. Waking up and having dinner then asleep again and this was every night of the week! I put it down to getting older and needing to increase my fitness levels, which weren't particularly low! I've had my surgery 3 months ago, didn't need chemo or radiotherapy, am back at work full time and can now make it up the stairs and stay awake at night (until a reasonable time!!) Still have days where I could fall asleep standing up but I'm now exercising 1/2 hr five days a week and feeling like I have some energy, so I reckon it just takes time!!! Sending good energy vibes to you, all the best. Xx Cath
  • I was very tired and had every blood test known to man...which found anomalies but no diagnosis. Eventually I just exercised more, rested better and ate well and felt better. Just prior to finding my lump the tiredness had really returned. I truly believe it was causing the tiredness. I am still tired now. ...but it is only a short time after chemo and I am not rushing back into working life just yet.
  • I was also very tired in the months before diagnosis.  On our regular morning walk, I remember saying to my husband that I could just lie down on the sand and go to sleep.  This was not normal at all - could usually do 7kms and not even feel it.   Now 4 years later I still get bouts of tiredness if I don't exercise but mostly things are back to normal. xx Michelle
  • Thank u so much Ladies..... I can't understand why the doctors are saying it's not from the cancer. Maybe if I get enough people saying it is they may be able to help us understand where we're at with our health. Healing light & love X

  • It's possible that the tiredness and poor immune symptoms aren't from the cancer itself, but rather other effects from whatever caused the cancer in the first place. But I agree, I wish there was some more research about this.
