I was incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II early this morning (Aussie Time) and have watched many of the tributes from leaders around the world today - it is definitely the end of an era.
She is reunited again with her beloved Philip - her decline in health after his passing last year was startling. :(
There has only been one other Royal who's beaten the 70 years 'on the throne' (France's King Louis XIV who's record on the throne was 72 years - but he WAS only 4 when he ascended the throne!)
So for Lilibet to get to 70 years when she was in her mid 20s when ascending the throne - is still amazing. What a work ethic!
I doubt if we will ever see such a wonderful Head of State of ANY country again in our lifetime ..... she was doing her duty right to the end!
BUT .... a buddy sent this to me, & I really had to chuckle!
