Yep, we used to play unsupervised in the creek behind our house, go to the playground on our own .... my sister & I used to fight over who got to eat the crunchy bits that fell off the chops under the grill (a rare treat) and the meat juice from under the dripping was YUMMY! I can remember the dunny man, and the ice man, and the bread man ..... from the 50s ....
I got so filthy one day, with numerous changes of clothes - playing in the mud, so my mother took a
flour sack & cut a hole in for my head, 2 holes for my arms & told me to go out & play in that - and I did! I also went to all the neighbours to show them my 'new dress' ..... she was mortified when she found out!! LOL
