- bakerrMemberHi Flossy, It seems we all react differently, I had the nipple removed and the flesh around it, so my boob is shorter and 22 lymph glands removed.Using a pillow really helps, but my underarm still feels numb and I had some cording. Its been 2 and a half months and it is still hurts when I do stretches. I spoke to my doctor and he is going to do some accupunture under the arm when I finish radio. so that may be an option if your nerves are still acting up. The best day of my life was when the drain came out, after nearly 5 weeks. Hope you feel better soon xxx
- kmakmMemberHi @Flossy. I had all sorts of weird pain after my wide local incision and sentinel node removal. I sat bolt upright in bed three nights after because I thought my husband was poking a cold metal pole into my shoulder blade. It was ice cold and nothing was there. Very uncomfortable. After that I had red hot sensations in the same place.
All the things that get removed from our bodies are in different places, and the surgeons all have different approaches. As our nerves try to work out what the hell is going on in the new landscapes and regrow, we get these weird sensations.
So no, you're not going mad! If it persists for long enough to worry you, check it out with your surgeon for peace of mind. K xox - arpieMemberHi @Flossy - I didn't have the same surgery as you - but it just takes a while for everything to settle down again & the nerves etc to find a new route. Make haste slowly ..... Make sure you keep your pain meds up on a regular basis. Hopefully it will settle down soon.
Do you have a small pillow to help support your arm? It will really help.
My nodes were 'pulled out' (not surgically removed) and I had a really weird feeling under my arm for well over a month before it settled down - just take your time & hopefully it will settle down
All the best xx
