Issue with chemo port surgery

Hi all, I've just recently had my chemo port installed after going through phase 1 of chemo taxol and carbo, for tnbc.

I'm concerned as I think my surgeon forgot to stitch my 14 cm wound, I've had bleeding and from what I can see and the chemo nurses can see that there were no stitches, i dont know what to do..... I'm uncomfortable with male doctors and nurses so I've been avoiding the emergency room....

Seems like medical negligence...

  • It should not be any bleeding. Contact your surgeon tnbc_2025

  • Hitnbc_2025 there may be a possibility of seeing a female doctor or nurse in your emergency department.

I am really sorry to hear about your trouble with the wound. I didn’t have that kind of issue with surgery when my port was inserted (in my arm) nor when it was removed last year.

Might the stitches have been dissolvable stitches? My surgeon told me she would be using dissolvable stitches these had to be kept dry. I would encourage a follow up asarpie suggests, preferably with your surgeon, or if not, in emergency with a request for a female health professional so you can receive treatment.

  • How long ago was it done? tnbc_2025

Maybe Contact your surgeon's office today for an urgent review (if it is still bleeding - keep a pressure bandaid on it) .... or even go back to the hospital where you had it done ...

take care & all the best
