I found a lump in my breast at the beginning of Feb and went to the Dr thinking it was probably just a cyst but unfortunately it turned out to be cancer. I've spoken to the Specialist had a PET Scan and a breast tissue mark clip insertion as I'll be having chemo first and am seeing the oncologist on Monday but I'm just a bit scared I guess and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing and just really wanted to connect with others that have been through or are going through the same thing as I am.

@blossum1961 I often get the urge to go scream in my Court Yard, I have yet to do it though. Also saying "What do I expect as a public patient" is BS I hope you reported that person.

@Blossom1961 far out!! I would’ve been too!! Unbelievable!! 😠. He’s lucky he’s a good surgeon. They should both learn some manners too 🤨. @Belleindy scream darl, scream. Go somewhere private and just let it all out. You’ll kick yourself for not doing it sooner. And while you’re at it, take a pillow to punch as well. I‘m being serious 👌🏻♥️

Hello @Belleindy Very sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It’s a terrifying time for sure. This is a good place to come for support and advice as we’ve all gone through different types of the big c, and know what you’re going through. These feelings of fear and anxiety are normal. You need to let them process. Just make sure you take it a step at a time, as it does get pretty overwhelming. Try to focus on what’s happening in the moment, and go easy on yourself. I have been trying to take it one day at a time but I was very overwhelmed yesterday. I am feeling better today though.

I have PTSD so I have a psychologist and I do psycho drama and one of the things he encourages me to do is punch cushions, kick them against the wall all that sort of stuff but I'm honestly no good at it. I do get angry and carry on like a pork chop at times though. I'm glad he's a good surgeon and I don't blame you for yelling loudly.

@Belleindy I did not report him. He is the best surgeon and I didn't want to lose him, just kick him which I refrained from doing. I did however yell quite loudly.

@Belleindy The initial BC diagnosis is a doozy. Our whole being goes into shock. I worked in robot mode for quite a while. The first time I completely lost it was when I found out the Onco had lied to me. I was with the surgeon at the time and he copped the lot. I don't regret it though as he said some rather unkind things along the lines of 'what do I expect as a public patient'. Lose it when you need to and remember we are always here for you to rant to your hearts content. Going for a drive and screaming seems to help. Personally, I just went out into the middle of the street and screamed. No one even checked on me, makes me wonder if they had come to expect something nutty from my house. Hang in there. I was at a loss right up until my first chemo session. Half an hour later, I pulled up my big girl panties and got on with it. I still had my moments and this forum was a huge help for me.

Yes, it does happen. Especially at the beginning, it’s much more common to be overwhelmed by everything, understandably so. I’m glad you’re feeling better today 😊. It might happen again, so just reach out whenever it gets too much ♥️
