A bit scared

Welcome to this club no lady ever wanted to join.  You will receive a lot of support from ladies here.  There are not many on-line at the minute but you will receive lots of responses.
You are not alone, we have all felt the apprehension you are feeling at the minute.  Take one step at a time.  Have someone attend appointments with you so they can take the notes as your brain will be in overdrive and you probably won't take it all in.  Make a list of questions and take that with you and don't leave until you have the answers.  No question is silly or unimportant.
Use this site as you need at any time - come on to vent or query, whatever you need.  We are here for you.
Thinking of you and sending hugs as you begin along this sometimes scary pathway.

@Livo sorry you have to join us but welcome. I lost my hair and looked for all the positives. I can say right now, having a shower with a bald head is amazing. Almost orgasmic 😇 I was wondering whether I should shave it again just because! I thought I would save money on shower water but you couldn’t get me out of the shower and I think I spent twice as long in there! This whole experience is scary but you will meet the most amazing people. Big hugs to you.

Sorry you have to be here but you will find a wealth of information and warm support here.  The start is the hardest, we all understand how you feel.

The oncology appointment is incredibly daunting. I remember how scared I was as well.  You will be bombarded with information you never dreamed you would have to ever worry about.  They will give you every side effect you can possibly get.  That does not mean you will get all or even many.  It just depends.

Chemo sux, but it's probably not going to be quite as horrid as what your brain will conjure up. I had the ever popular AC T chemo.  I managed to work through most of it , run my farm, renovate and do all my usual stuff, I kept my hair with the cold cap (do you have access to one of these to try?) and my family had multiple social events starting at that time and I had a fantastic time at all of them. Some days were crap but there was a lot that werent.

Once you know which chemo regime you are having there will be many on here that have had the same on with lots of helpful advice.

It is incredibly scary at the beginning.  You will be ok.  Promise.

Hi Livo, sorry to see you here but you have come to the right place for support as we all know what you are going through and how you are feeling.
What state are you in ? as other people will be able to help guide you with what is available to you, I’m here in SA.

I was also diagnosed in October last year with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, I’m currently in the middle of treatment.
A positive mind is the best thing you can do for yourself, take one day at a time.
Other people may jump on here with the same diagnosis’s also.
When I was first diagnosed I attended a Meditation and Mindfulness course which was of great benefit, especially during the waiting game.

Thats great news that you have a good network of family and friends to help you get through this stage of your life.
As suggested above start writing down any questions you may have and take someone with you to all appointments as it is a lot to absorb.

Having access to a breast cancer nurse is a bonus as they can help you through this and offer great advice and point you in the right direction for other services including Psychologists, any support groups in your area.


Ask away any questions, even if you just want to vent someone will always be here.

@Livo How did your Oncologist appt go? Do they have a plan for you?

@Blossom1961. It’s been a whirlwind! Starting AC on Wed 19/6 every 3 weeks and followed by CP weekly (can’t remember how long 😂)   Having a port put in tomorrow and all my scans should be done by this afternoon!!
