Hi all, I received my diagnosis a couple of days ago from  a surgeon who made Doc Martin seem like the Dalai Llama. Those guys really don't have people skills, do they?

Anyway, I'm a lot afraid and really needing to get into some positivity, so any good slogans for Tshirts to wear to Chemo, which I begin next week, would be very much appreciated.

I've already come up with 'lumps in all the right places', but am open to more.

cheers

  • Being diagnosed with breast cancer is not a nice experience and I'm sorry to hear that yours was made even worse by the delivery.  You are able to ask to see a different surgeon or doctor.  Your relationship with him or her will be ongoing so it's best to have someone that you get along with.

To answer your question on slogans, I have some badges that I wear on hats:

"If only women paid as much attention to their breasts as men do"

    "Fight like a girl"

    "I can't remember a thing.... I have mammary loss"

    "Hair by chemo"

"Yes they're fake, my real ones tried to kill me"

Whether you are one breasted, two breasted or no breasted, it's a two fisted fight."

    and "BEWARE, chemo brain"

I wish you well with your upcoming treatment.

Repeat after me............ "Laughter is the BEST medicine"  It seems that you have a sense of humour.  When you're on a good thing, stick to it.

  • Hi Pepi,

The thing that helped me the most when first diagnosed was actually from a pretty average movie called After Earth (it came out last year and stars Will Smith and his son). The main charcter is talking about fear and how it is not real. Fear is your imaginings of events yet to happen and solely created in your mind. I really wish I could remember its wording but essentially danger is real fear is not. Every time I started worrying and stressing about 'What If's' I would stop myself. Why stress myself out and use engergy over things that may not ever happen?!  Check out the movie to get the actual inspiring wording :)

As for t-shirts I saw a picture of one that said on the front: Yes they are fake. My real ones tried to kill me!

You are at the hardest part with the tests, surgery and waiting. Break it all down into parts. One step at a time and you will get there!

I dont know if you are on pinterest at all but there are thousands of positive quotes and links to good things.

You cant control what happens in your life but you can control how you react to it!

All the best for this BC rollercoaster ride.

  • Sorry you've joined the club but this forum is a great place to get support. If your surgeon doesn't "gel" with you, ask to be referred to a different one. You really don't need to feel like another statistic during your treatment. I've just finished chemo and can tell you that your treatment team are really integral in your journey. If you don't feel comfortable or someone irks you or treats you as less than human, find someone else. It sounds like you haven't had any surgery yet? As for slogans, I'll have to put my thinking cap on and get back to you! Your positive outlook and sense of humour will help you get through. Cheers xo
  • Dear Pepi

Sorry  to hear that what you have to go through.

We all have to deal with our emotions fears but excepting was the first step for me this is new me I have to deal with it with best of my ability what ever happens.

Starting from acknowledging and understand my feelings and deal with them.

I did not make any plans ahead deal with first round recover and then second round so on look forward to finishing line.

  • Dear Silke, thanks heaps. I did indeed read MsD's one year on post, and found it very helpful. The surgeon who broke the news to me on tuesday was pretty brutal, and I came away thinking I'd been given a death sentence. Still trying to get on top of things, but it's good to know I am now in contact with others going through or surviving the same thing.
