Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

BAHAHAHAHA!!! - kmakmMemberLove it! Bit punk. Awesome sauce!
- JJ70MemberI think they look more substantial - stronger, radiant and ready to tell Prince Charming just how it is!
- SisterMemberI'm the same - used it for 2 treatments and found I had a strip from ear to ear that came out and I couldn't hide. I found that more upsetting than shaving it off. It does add a lot of extra time and some find it quite painful. My advice is, if it doesn't cost extra and changing your mind over the course of treatments isn't going to be a problem, suck it and see. People tend to fall into 1 of 3 groups - doesn't work at all, sort of works, and works really well. If you do go ahead, make sure that it is fitting firmly to your entire head for the whole time. Many places put a smaller cap on top of the first to ensure a tighter fit.
- Doin_itMember@JJ70 I’m beginning to think I won’t bother. Thanks for replying. I love the pic!
- JJ70Membergod I look like a sad sack in that pic.....that's because I bloody well was and had every right to be, as do others. Chemo was so much fun! :o
- JJ70Member@JenniA. I could sat 'DITTO' when I read @kmakm 's post. I tried twice. First week, the cap was poorly fitted and the machine kept turning off!! :s. The second week, the cap was fitted better with gauze wrapped around my head. I was quite the catch on the chemo ward that day I thought! (see pic below). But alas, my hair came out in handfuls about 3 weeks after first round at it seemed pointless to continue. I don't think it was a coincidence that the first areas of hair to fall out, was where the cap was loose on the first go.I am glad I called an end to it early and did not persist, it added so much time to my chemo day and added stress I did not need at the time.
Do ensure that your cap fits tightly if you are going to try cold caps. I know la few people it has worked for - they lost all their body hair, but not hair on their heads. They swear by it. - Doin_itMember@kmakm Not sure where the rest of my msg went!! I’ll try again
- kmakmMemberNo worries @JenniA. I added a link you might find useful. K xox
