Hi All, I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass. I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long i...
@JenniA. I could sat 'DITTO' when I read @kmakm 's post. I tried twice. First week, the cap was poorly fitted and the machine kept turning off!! :s. The second week, the cap was fitted better with gauze wrapped around my head. I was quite the catch on the chemo ward that day I thought! (see pic below). But alas, my hair came out in handfuls about 3 weeks after first round at it seemed pointless to continue. I don't think it was a coincidence that the first areas of hair to fall out, was where the cap was loose on the first go.I am glad I called an end to it early and did not persist, it added so much time to my chemo day and added stress I did not need at the time.
Do ensure that your cap fits tightly if you are going to try cold caps. I know la few people it has worked for - they lost all their body hair, but not hair on their heads. They swear by it.
