Cold cap with chemo to save hair!

HI All,  its been a little while since I posted as well - Chemo & rads now both finished and my hair is looking pretty normal - I did go blonde wihich was a big shock when i looked in the mirror and even more of a shock for my husband when I came home - sent him a message to say I was on my way to prepare him.
@Hils  great to hear you have hair after your first chemo rounds - I only did the docetaxol and had the cold cap for that so you will continue to use it for this lot too.   I hope your hair continues to be kind to you.
Good news is hair is getting much thicker these days - and who knows where the curls came from - cold cap definitely helped and am now happy with my new look new - just can't get out there at the moment to find out if blondes do really have more fun

I missed out on  my 2nd chemo this week as I was taking penicillin for a skin infection from having the fluid syringed out a few weeks ago and it wasn't completely gone. So hopefully another dose will get rid of it for next week. Got to get this chemo over and done with! ☺

Congratulations on finishing. chemo stage 1! Sounds like cold capping has been reasonably successful for you too, which is great. I didn’t do the cold cap for EC so went bald and hair just started to return towards the end of 12 rounds of paclitaxel which is very like docetaxel. I got the impression that if you cold cap the first combination, you continue through the taxane as well. Xx

Well been a while since I've said hello here!
Tomorrow is the last of four sessions of my chemo with the cold cap. Still have a head of hair even though it is a bit thin especially on top. But I can still get away with it so pleased. Then I start 4 rounds of Docetaxel. So presume I will still need to cap. Will have to ask me oncologist.  So made it through to half way! Hope you are all staying safe. 💗🌈💗

They recommend 3 months before the first colour but I only waited 5 wks PFC to colour.  I was going to the races and definitely wasnt going with a grey/black and dirtly blonde do.
It's quite scary the first time especially with the harshness of most blonde colours.  I used the garnier blonde without amonias.  It worked well enough to colour what had become a very wide regrowth strip over the months and had no negative effects.

@Beaglemum I totally relate to your comments re hair colour. Have gone totally grey, and am not ready for it ....I finished chemo 2 weeks ago and will probably go blonde eventually. Must say I’m a bit paranoid about chemicals though, so a little unsure about what to do.
Have been told to wait a bit longer by my surgeon before I dye it urrrgh....

@Hils I was told that chemo can strip your hair colour.  Can’t remember by whom, maybe an Oncol nurse. (My chemo brain is shocking)I’ve gone totally grey and wasn’t before. :s

Hi @Hils my hair was actually a shade of purple (violet vision!) before hand - had elements of grey coming through at the sides before I recoloured it but nothing like the grey it is now.  My hair was very short anyway so most likely all the grey is new hair coming through and because it hasn't had a colour for several months it might of gone like this anyway.
Thought I might be able to keep it grey - go for the Jamle Lee Curtis look - but scared the grey makes me look too old - hence going for the blond.    
@Jinte I have heard a shower with no hair is fab - was a bit too scared to go that far.

@Hils Good luck.  If you do stop, that’s ok.  Having a shower on a head with no hair is bliss.  My hair has come back curly.
