Hi ladies I wanted to share with you my before and after photos of my new post chemo hair!. Not that I am ungrateful for new hair, but gosh not sure how I am going to style this new do when the curls gets longer because my hair used to be straight. So this is what I looked like BEFORE chemo... And this is my AFTER, 5 months post chemo ( I was completely bald). It is much thicker and the curls are ridiculously tight :) Will be interesting to see if it stays this curly. Another friend of mine has had her chemo curls now for over 12 months! Soooo bizarre! but, here's to having hair! and living! xxxx

My daughter just asked if that was a photo of me lol. Give it another few weeks and then when you get caught in the wind it frizzes and you look like you are trying to grow an afro. Nice even colour and it's come back nice and thick so that is a plus. One of my friends went from dark brown to blonde post chemo. It's amazing what our bodies do. My mum's chemo curls took about 2 years to change from curls to waves. I wonder if your friends curls will drop over time.

My hair pre chemo was similar to yours, not quite dead straight. Mine is now about half a cm long, 9 weeks post last dose

Hi Ne i must say, I love the curls! It will be interesting if they stay that tight or drop a bit as your hair get longer. Mine grew back darker, thicker with beautiful curls. I love it!

Lol...it already feels like im growing an afro..haha...ut is sooo tight. Just thought id mention too that ive put a herbal colour through it so not my natural colour although it is growing back darkish.

Looking good Ne,

I can't wait any hair would do! It will be wonderful not to see a cancer patient in the mirror. I am 8 week post chemo and have white straight fine baby hair. This hair comparing is interesting, our bodies are amazing how they can bonce back.

You need to keep us posted, would be so interesting to see what happens. In the first week or so it really feels like nothing much is happening, but then it starts shooting out! You'll see xx

Sorry Maryrose, I just picked one of the few brands that were available from the health shop and now cant remember the name, but the box was dark green.

Hi Nadine,

just to let you know, I had extremely fine hair with bald patches from alopecia. It had been like that since I was 19. I am now 50 and it has come back thicker than before, darker and curly. So hopefully yours will be the same. Karen xox

I looked like a baby chimpanzee for quite a while. It was soft, straight and stood on end until the curls kicked in. I hated it. I preferred bald to that look. That in between stage is definitely horrible.

Love the photos Ne, before chemo I had long(51cms long) curly hair, the longer my hair got the looser the curls got, the weight of it pulled the curls looser, I wonder if that will be the same for you?

ive currently got a 'bum fluff' head ?? starting, I'm 5 weeks post last chemo and keen to see proper hair again, mine was dark brown but it's coming back very light, I'm saying it's blonde but it's looking grey lol, and I'm wondering if instead of Chemo curls will I get straight hair!

I know it's new and different and probably harder to manage, but you still have that lovely smile and positive outlook so you can't go wrong!
