Wanted to check in to you guys, post surgery unilateral mastectomy, post surgery day 5. I am recovering quite well, except one bad night at home. I discovered better to sleep in a semi sitting up position in bed, like in hospital as lying flat seemed to add pressure and pain. I wasn't prescribed any stronger pain killers to go home with, but regular panadol seems to do the trick. I'm managing my drain well, it's doing what's expected, 40mls out this morning. Went for a short walk up the street early this am. All the staff at the Wesley were wonderful as was the surgical team, and the BCN, lovely, kind and helpful, i felt safe and secure. Since home my emotions are revealing themselves a little more, just a bit sad at times. Binging on britbox helps. Hubby's a good support. We'll go for our coffee institution later. Maybe go for a drive today. Family have been supportive, my golf ladies have been so thoughtful. F/up with Dr next week, for path results from sentinel node biopsy and treatment? I'm on her books moving forward which is a secure feeling. Going through my journey booklet right now, wanted to touch base. All the best to others newly diagnosed after me and everyone here x

Terrific that you are going well, post-op, @tina_m2 xx Being emotional is totally normal - as you are both happy the demon is 'gorn' but now mourning the loss of your breast xx If you feel a tad overwhelmed by it all, Give our help line a bell on 1800 500 258 for a private chat. I bet you'll feel better for it xx (Mon-Fri, 9-5)
Yes, finding a comfy sleeping position can be tricky - so good that the semi sitting up position works for you xx. Great that you don't need stronger meds for any pain. Terrific that you are getting out & about. I remember feeling very proud of myself, going out for dinner with my family in the first week, post-op!
hehe Thank goodness for those streaming channels, eh ... my stepson & DIL in NZ pay for my Netflix as my Xmas Pressie, which is wonderful! Lots of terrific shows on it to watch, too. xx
Wishing you all the best next week for your checkup with the surgeon & your Pathology results xx. Will your BC Nurse sit in on the appointment?
take care
